Mark Ryan (Wisconsin Politician)
Mark W. Ryan (November 9, 1924 – February 18, 1985) was an American politician who was a member of the Wisconsin State Assembly. Biography Ryan was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He attended Washington High School, as well as Wisconsin State College of Milwaukee, Spencerian College and the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee. During World War II, he served in the United States Navy. Ryan was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion and Catholic War Veterans, as well as the Knights of Columbus and the Fraternal Order of Eagles. Wisconsin State Assembly
The Wisconsin State Assembly is the lower house of the Wisconsin Legislature. Together with the smaller Wisconsin Senate, the two constitute the legislative branch of the U.S. state of Wisconsin. The Assembly is controlled by the Republican Party, as it has been for 28 of the past 30 years (only 2009-2010 are exceptions). Members of the Assembly are elected to two-year terms during the fall elections. In the event of a vacancy in an Assembly seat between elections, a special election may be held to fill the position. The Wisconsin Constitution limits the size of the State Assembly to between 54 and 100 members inclusive. Since 1973, the state has been divided into 99 Assembly districts apportioned amongst the state based on population as determined by the decennial census, for a total of 99 representatives. Fraternal Order of Eagles (F.O.E.) is a fraternal organization that was founded on February 6, 1898, in Seattle, Washington, by a group of six theater-owners including John Cort (impresario), John Cort (the first president), brothers John Considine (Seattle), John W. and Tim J. Considine, Harry (H.L.) Leavitt (who later joined the Loyal Order of Moose), Mose Goldsmith and Arthur Williams.
