Mark Platts (footballer)
Mark Platts (born 23 May 1979) is an English association football, football midfielder. He represented England national football team, England as a schoolboy. Platts began his career as a trainee with Sheffield Wednesday F.C., Sheffield Wednesday, making his league debut, while still a trainee, on 10 February 1996 as a late substitute for Chris Waddle in Wednesday's 2–1 win against Wimbledon F.C., Wimbledon. At the time this made him the youngest ever outfield player to appear for Wednesday, and the third youngest in all behind goalkeepers Peter Fox (footballer), Peter Fox and Gary Scothern. Two weeks later he came on in the second half for Lee Briscoe in the 1–0 defeat away to Tottenham Hotspur F.C., Tottenham Hotspur. He turned professional on 16 October 1996, but failed to appear in the Wednesday first team whilst a professional. Lee Briscoe
Lee Stephen Briscoe (born 30 September 1975) is an English former professional footballer who played as a left back and left midfielder. He notably played in the Premier League for Sheffield Wednesday, before having spells in the Football League with Manchester City, Burnley and Preston North End. He was capped four times at England U21 between 1996 and 1997. Club career Briscoe began his career at Sheffield Wednesday and was highly rated when young, making five appearances for the England Under-21 side. He scored his only goal for Wednesday in a 1–0 victory over Arsenal in the 1998–99 season. Peter Fox (footballer)
Peter Fox (born 5 July 1957) is an English former footballer who played in the Football League for Barnsley, Exeter City, Sheffield Wednesday and Stoke City. Playing career Fox was born in Scunthorpe and began his career with Sheffield Wednesday, making his debut aged just 15 years 8 months, a club record in a 2–0 victory over Leyton Orient. Unfortunately for Fox he broke his toe that day and lost his place to another younger keeper, Chris Turner. Following the arrival of Jack Charlton as manager in October 1977, Fox found himself in the reserves, Charlton liked big keepers who could kick the ball long into the opponents half. After spending time out on loan at Barnsley and a summer in the NASL with Team Hawaii, Stoke City paid £15,000 to sign Fox.
