Zodiac Mindwarp and the Love Reaction were a British hard rock group, which was formed in 1985. Zodiac Mindwarp and the Love Reaction play a sleazy style of commercial hard rock featuring big riffs and choruses, as was the trend in the band's heyday of the mid-to-late 1980s and early 1990s. Overview The band is the brainchild of Mark Manning, a former graphic artist and art editor of the now defunct '' Flexipop!'' magazine. The magazine folded back in 1982, but the hedonistic lifestyle of the rock and pop stars who frequented the magazine's offices fueled his desire to experience the debauchery of life as a decadent rock star. He joined another music publication called ''Metal Fury'' as a graphic designer, but assumed the alter ego 'Zodiac Mindwarp' at night. The Justified Ancients Of Mu Mu
The KLF (also known as the Justified Ancients of Mu Mu, the JAMs, the Timelords and other names) are a British electronic band who originated in Liverpool and London in the late 1980s. "Dancing in the Dark" is a song written and performed by American rock singer Bruce Springsteen. It was the first single released ahead from his 1984 album, ''Born in the U.S.A.'', and became his biggest hit, helping the album become the best-selling album of his career. Writing and recording Springsteen wrote "Dancing In the Dark" overnight, after Jon Landau convinced him that the album needed a single. William Ernest Drummond (born 29 April 1953) is a Scottish artist, musician, writer, and record producer. He was a co-founder of the late-1980s avant-garde pop group the KLF and its 1990s media-manipulating successor, the K Foundation, with which he K Foundation Burn a Million Quid, burned £1 million in 1994. Gramophone Record
A phonograph record (also known as a gramophone record, especially in British English) or a vinyl record (for later varieties only) is an analog sound storage medium in the form of a flat disc with an inscribed, modulated spiral groove. ''Tattooed Beat Messiah'' is the 1988 debut full-length studio release by Zodiac Mindwarp and the Love Reaction. Engineered by Femi Jiya and Mark Freegard. Mixed by Nigel Green. The album reached #132 on the US ''Billboard'' 200 and #20 on the UK album charts in March 1988 supported by music videos for the "Prime Mover" (single, April 1987), "Backseat Education" (single, October 1987, UK #49), and "Planet Girl" (single, March 1988, UK #63). Tracks included on the album that had been released in 1987 were remixed for inclusion on the album. "Prime Mover" would be the band's most successful single reaching #18 on the UK singles charts in May 1987, well in advance of the eventual album release. The Cult
The Cult are an English Rock music, rock band formed in Bradford in 1983. Before settling on their current name in January 1984, the band had performed under the name Death Cult, which was an evolution of the name of lead vocalist Ian Astbury's previous band Southern Death Cult. Reading Festival
The Reading and Leeds Festivals are a pair of annual music festivals that take place in Reading, Berkshire, Reading and Leeds in England. The events take place simultaneously on the Friday, Saturday and Sunday of the August bank holiday weekend. The Reading Festival is held at Little John's Farm on Richfield Avenue in central Reading, near Caversham Bridge. The Leeds event is held in Bramham Park, near Wetherby, the grounds of a historic house. Headliners and most supporting acts typically play at both sites, with Reading's Friday line up becoming Leeds' Saturday line-up, Reading's Saturday line-up playing at Leeds on Sunday, and Leeds' Friday line-up attending Reading on Sunday. Dingwalls
Dingwalls Dancehall (original name at time of opening) is a live music and comedy venue adjacent to Camden Lock, Camden in London. The building itself is one of many industrial Victorian buildings which were put to new use in the 20th century. The original owner of the building, T.E. Dingwall, had his name painted on to the outside wall of the building, which was a common practice by businesses in Camden Town during the late Victorian era. The paint is still visible to this day, hence the venue's name. The 500-capacity venue was bought by promoter Vince Power in June 2020 and continues to host gigs of contemporary music. It was renamed and reopened as The PowerHaus after a copyright issue blocked the use of its original name. Power now has use of the name again and the building has returned to being Dingwalls.
