The Surround Sound Collection
''The'' is a grammatical article in English, denoting nouns that are already or about to be mentioned, under discussion, implied or otherwise presumed familiar to listeners, readers, or speakers. It is the definite article in English. ''The'' is the most frequently used word in the English language; studies and analyses of texts have found it to account for seven percent of all printed English-language words. It is derived from gendered articles in Old English which combined in Middle English and now has a single form used with nouns of any gender. The word can be used with both singular and plural nouns, and with a noun that starts with any letter. This is different from many other languages, which have different forms of the definite article for different genders or numbers. Pronunciation In most dialects, "the" is pronounced as (with the voiced dental fricative followed by a schwa) when followed by a consonant sound, and as (homophone of the archaic pronoun ''thee'' ...

VH1 Storytellers (Ringo Starr Album)
''VH1 Storytellers'' is a live and video album by Ringo Starr recorded and released for the popular music program in 1998. Unlike his previous live recordings, this release places Starr in an intimate environment where, as per the show's requirement, he tells the genesis of the songs being performed. Recording Recorded a month before the release of Starr's new studio album '' Vertical Man'' – and performed in promotion for it – ''VH1 Storytellers'' features Starr's contemporary musical collaborator Mark Hudson (who produced the album) and Starr's current band, dubbed "the Roundheads". Aside from songs that appeared on ''Vertical Man'', much of the set is devoted to Starr's Beatles and early solo successes. Release and reception This marked the last time a full length Ringo Starr album was released on cassette in the United States, according to journalist Peter Palmiere. However, some countries in the Far East still issue cassettes of recent Ringo Starr material including '' ...

Liverpool 8
''Liverpool 8'' is the fifteenth studio album by Ringo Starr, released worldwide on 14 January 2008. Received with mixed reviews, it marked Starr's return to EMI for the first time since leaving the label in 1975, following the end of the Beatles' recording contract with the company. Background ''Liverpool 8'' was originally planned for release in June 2007, and began as another production by the collaborative team of Mark Hudson and Starr (the two had previously co-produced '' Vertical Man'', '' I Wanna Be Santa Claus'', ''VH1 Storytellers'', '' Ringo Rama'', and '' Choose Love''). However, the release date was pushed back to the beginning of 2008 when Hudson was replaced by Dave Stewart after a falling out with Starr. The album's production credits read, "Produced by Ringo Starr and Mark Hudson; Re-Produced by Ringo Starr and David Stewart." All of the songs but one were written with the Roundheads, although Stewart also has two co-writing credits. Starr's attorney Bruce G ...

Choose Love (album)
''Choose Love'' is the fourteenth studio album by English singer-songwriter Ringo Starr. Background and recording Recorded throughout 2004 into 2005, using the same team that created ''Vertical Man'' (1998) and '' Ringo Rama'' (2003), Starr produced the set with longtime musical partner Mark Hudson and performed it with their studio team. The title track has a Beatles-like "Day Tripper" guitar riff with a coda similar to " The Word" and mentions the Beatles songs "The Long and Winding Road", "Tomorrow Never Knows" and " What Goes On". As ever, a Starr album would be lacking if it did not include some celebrity guests and ''Choose Love'' does not deviate from the formula; it features Billy Preston and Chrissie Hynde as its most notable guests. Release ''Choose Love'' was released on 7 June 2005 in the US, and on 25 July in the UK. There was an edition of the album that was a dual disc (CD on side, DVD on the other), with the DVD component featuring bonus features on the making of ...

Ringo Rama
''Ringo Rama'' is the thirteenth studio album by English singer-songwriter Ringo Starr, released in 2003. Background and recording As the follow-up to '' I Wanna Be Santa Claus'' (1999), it continues Starr's alliance with Mark Hudson as well as most of his collaborators from that last project. Annoyed that Mercury had not put enough promotion towards ''I Wanna Be Santa Claus'', Starr left the label in 2000. Contributors this time around include Willie Nelson, Charlie Haden, Van Dyke Parks, Pink Floyd's David Gilmour, Shawn Colvin, Timothy B. Schmit, and Eric Clapton. Starr said "People would ask, "So who's on the record?" and we'd say, "Just a couple of local guys. You know, like Eric Clapton and Dave Gilmour." Because they do both live just around the corner." Recording had taken place at Starr's recording studio in London, Rocca Bella, and Hudson's Whatinthewhatthe? Studios in Los Angeles, with the sessions being produced by Starr, Hudson and Gary Nicholson. Music and ly ...
