Mark Hodgins
Mark D. Hodgins (born September 18, 1947) is an American politician who served one term in the Alaska House of Representatives. Biography Hodgins was born in Los Angeles in 1947. He graduated from Cascade High School in Everett, Washington in 1965 and served in the Alaska National Guard from 1966 until 1972. Hodgins later studied at the University of Alaska and at Kenai Peninsula Community College. Hodgins served in the Kenai Peninsula Borough Assembly from 1987 until 1992. He unsuccessfully ran for the House in 1992 and 1994, both times losing to Mike Navarre, but won in 1996 when Navarre decided to retire. Mike Navarre
Mike Navarre (born June 9, 1956) is an American businessman and politician who formerly served as mayor of Alaska's Kenai Peninsula Borough and as a member of the Alaska House of Representatives. Biography Mike Navarre was born on June 9, 1956, in Lansing, Michigan, one of eleven children (seven sons and four daughters) of George A. Navarre (1923–2009) and his wife Rose (née Doogan). The family moved to Kenai, Alaska, when he was an infant, where they established themselves in the business community. At first, the family opened up a grocery store, then branched out into an auto service business and fast food franchising, both of which currently operate locations across Alaska. He dropped out of college in the 1970s and moved to Fairbanks, Alaska, moving back to Kenai in 1978. ''The World'' is a biweekly newspaper in Coos Bay, Oregon, United States. From its office on Anderson Avenue in downtown Coos Bay, ''The World'' serves Oregon's South Coast, including the cities of Coos Bay, North Bend, Reedsport, Bandon, Lakeside, Coquille and Myrtle Point. History ''The World'' was first published in 1878 as ''The Coast Mail''. During the first half of the 20th century, many name changes and mergers took place. Eventually, owner/publisher Sheldon F. Sackett changed the newspaper's name to ''The World'' in the 1960s. Sackett owned several media outlets including KISN, a radio station in Portland. Coos County, Oregon
Coos County ( ) is one of the 36 counties in the U.S. state of Oregon. As of the 2020 census, the population was 64,929. The county seat is Coquille. The county was formed from the western parts of Umpqua and Jackson counties. It is named after a tribe of Native Americans who live in the region. Coos County comprises the Coos Bay, OR Micropolitan Statistical Area. History The name Coos originated from the name of the Native American tribe that had settled the area.
