Marius Vizer
Marius Vizer (born 7 November 1958) is a Romanian businessman and former judoka. Since 2007, he has been the president of the International Judo Federation. Vizer also holds an Austrian passport. Vizer holds a 8th Dan (rank), dan black belt in judo. Judo Between 1995 and 2001, he was President of the Romanian Judo Federation. Between 2000 and 2007, Vizer was President of the European Judo Union. And between 2013 and 2015, he was President of the Global Association of International Sports Federations, SportAccord. Since 2007, he has been the president of the International Judo Federation. Vizer is a long-time friend of Russian President Vladimir Putin. During his tenure at the helm of the IJF, it named Vladimir Putin, Putin as its honorary president and an IJF Ambassador in 2008. Romanian Judo Federation
The Romanian Judo Federation represents the Romania internationally and is a member of the International Judo Federation and the European Judo Union. History Judo in Romania began with Heishichi Ishiguro, Japanese judoka, journalist and diplomat. Ishiguro taught judo in college for one year: ONEF (Oficiul National de Educatie Fizica [English: National Office of Physical Education]).The best student was Emilian Teacă, a police captain. In 1937 the first Romanian Police Officer Championship took place in Bucharest with the participation of other students and fire-fighters from Cîmpina. The International Judo Federation (IJF) is the international governing body for judo, founded in July 1951. Today the IJF has 200 National Federations on all continents. There are over 20 million people around the globe who practice judo, according to the IJF.
