Maritime Privateers Football
The Maritime Privateers football team represents the State University of New York Maritime College in college football at the NCAA Division III level. The Privateers are members of the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC), fielding its team in the NEWMAC since 2023. The Privateers play their home games at Reinhart Field in Throggs Neck, New York. Their current head coach is Jamel Ramsay, who took over the position in 2024. Jamel Ramsay
Jamel Ramsay (born ) is an American college football coach. He is the head football coach for the State University of New York Maritime College, a position he has held since 2024. He was the head football coach for Paul D. Schreiber Senior High School from 2011 to 2015 and Nassau Community College from 2017 to 2023. Playing career Ramsay grew up in Elmont, New York, and attended Sewanhaka High School. He played college football for C. W. Post Pioneers football, C. W. Post as a cornerback and wide receiver. In 2008, he signed with the Peoria Pirates of the AF2. In 2009, he played for the Albany Firebirds (af2), Albany Firebirds of the AF2. Coaching career In 2008, Ramsay was hired as the Wide receiver, wide receivers coach for his alma mater, C. W. Post. In 2011, he was hired as the head football coach for Paul D.
