Maritime Museum (Macau)
The Maritime Museum (; ) is a museum in São Lourenço, Macau, China. History The construction of the museum was proposed in 1986. The museum was finally opened in 1987. Because of space constraint, new museum building was constructed and opened on 24 June 1990. Architecture The museum building spans over 800 m2 of area and was built on the site where the first Portuguese explorers landed on Macau in 1553. The building resembles the shape of a ship. São Lourenço, Macau
São Lourenço is a Parishes of Macau, civil parish () of Macau. It is located in the southwestern of Macau Peninsula and named after Lawrence of Rome. This parish was one of five in the former Municipality of Macau, one of Macau's two municipalities that were abolished on 31 December 2001 by Law No. 17/2001, following the 1999 transfer of sovereignty over Macau from Portugal to China. While their administrative functions have since been removed, these parishes are still retained nominally. It was surrounded by water on all sides except north and Southeast. It neighbours Sé, Macau, Freguesia da Sé. Penha Hill and () are to the south. The Portuguese governor building and current administrative buildings are located here.
