Marit Knutsdatter Strand (born 27 April 1992) is a Norway, Norwegian politician of the Centre Party (Norway), Centre Party. She has served as a representative to the Storting for Oppland (Storting constituency), Oppland since 2017. Education She attended Valdres upper secondary school from 2008 to 2011, and studied at the Norwegian University of Life Sciences from 2012 to 2017. Political career Youth league Knutsdatter Strand was leader of the Oppland Centre Youth from 2012 to 2014, and then leader of the Ås Centre Students from 2014 to 2015. She was also a member of the central board of the Centre Youth from 2015 to 2016. She was also chairwoman of the board of the Centre Party's Student Union in 2018. Storting
The Storting ( no, Stortinget ) (lit. the Great Thing) is the supreme legislature of Norway, established in 1814 by the Constitution of Norway. It is located in Oslo. The unicameral parliament has 169 members and is elected every four years based on party-list proportional representation in nineteen multi-seat constituencies. A member of Stortinget is known in Norwegian as a ''stortingsrepresentant'', literally "Storting representative". The assembly is led by a president and, since 2009, five vice presidents: the presidium. The members are allocated to twelve standing committees as well as four procedural committees. 2017 Norwegian Parliamentary Election
Parliamentary elections were held in Norway on 11 September 2017 to elect all 169 members of the unicameral Norwegian Parliament, the Storting. The non-socialist parties retained a reduced majority of 88 seats, allowing Prime Minister Erna Solberg's Conservative-Progress coalition to remain in government. The Liberal Party joined the coalition in January 2018 but it remained a minority cabinet until the Christian Democratic Party joined the coalition in 2019. The three largest centre-left parties won 79 seats. The Green Party retained its single seat, while the Red Party won its first ever seat. 2021 Norwegian Parliamentary Election
Parliamentary elections were held in Norway on 13 September 2021. All 169 seats in the Norwegian legislature, the Storting, were up for election. The election was won by a coalition consisting of the social-democratic Labour Party and the agrarian Centre Party that entered into negotiations to form a government. The election also resulted in a majority for the parties that seek to dissolve the unpopular and controversial Viken county. It saw a big win for the left-wing opposition in an election fought on climate change, inequality, and oil. Oppland (Storting Constituency)
Oppland is one of the 19 multi-member constituencies of the Storting, the national legislature of Norway. The constituency was established as Opland in 1921 following the introduction of proportional representation for elections to the Storting. Its spelling was settled as Oppland in 1950.
