Marissa Bridge
Marissa Bridge is an American artist. She studied painting at the Parsons School of Design in New York City. Marissa Bridge was the second wife of artist Allan Bridge, creator of The Apology Line conceptual art project. They met in New York in 1981 and married in 1984, remaining married until Allan was killed in a hit-and-run collision while scuba-diving in 1995. Marissa and Allan shared their love of scuba-diving which inspired Marissa to paint seascapes. After Allan's death Marissa moved on to other themes for her artwork, focusing on commissioned pieces. Artwork The focus of her work over the past decade has been nature, with a particular interest in flower imagery and her work on flowers have developed from a series of 36 paintings named “The Journey” to the more recent mixed media studies. Parsons School Of Design
The Parsons School of Design is a private art and design college under The New School located in the Greenwich Village neighborhood of New York City. Founded in 1896 after a group of progressive artists broke away from established Manhattan art academies in protest of limited creative autonomy, Parsons is one of the oldest schools of art and design in New York. Parsons was the first school to offer programs in fashion design, interior design, advertising, graphic design, Transdisciplinarity, transdisciplinary design, and lighting design. Terry-Ketcham Inn is a historic inn and tavern located at Center Moriches in Suffolk County, New York. ARC Gallery
ARC Gallery is an alternative exhibition space in Chicago, Illinois. Opening in 1973, it was one of the first women artists’ cooperatives in the Midwest along with Artemisia Gallery (another venerable Chicago women’s cooperative that opened on the same block that month). ARC stands for Artists, Residents, Chicago and is one of the longest running women’s cooperative galleries in the country. The original members, recent art school graduates, banded together because they found few female mentors and exhibition opportunities.
