Mario Gayraud
Mario Rodolfo Gayraud (born November 9, 1957, in Buenos Aires province), is a retired Argentine racing driver. He won the TC2000 championship in 1984. He is nationally recognized for his participation in the Turismo Carretera , Turismo Nacional and TC 2000 categories. In the latter he obtained his only championship title, being a driver for the official Ford team and winning the first title of the brand and the only one owned by the Ford Taunus model. In turn, he also obtained three runners-up in 1983 with the Taunus and in 1985 and 1986 with the Ford Sierra model. In Turismo Carretera, he competed from 1991 to 1998 mainly with a Ford Falcon, except for 1994, which was the only year in which he competed with a Chevrolet Chevy. After this, he had retired temporarily, returning in 2006 in the National Tourism, aboard a Peugeot 306. Finally, Gayraud would retire in 2007, aboard a Chevrolet Astra of the Class 3 of the TN. The TC2000 (''Turismo Competición 2000'', formerly ''Súper TC2000'') is a touring car racing series held in Argentina since 1979. Rules Prior to 2012, engines of up to were allowed, with only limited modifications from standard engines. This was both to reduce running costs, and give a level playing field to every team. Variable valve timing, variable intake geometry, anti-lock braking systems and traction control are all forbidden. From the 2012 season, Radical Performance Engines will provide RPE TCX V8 engines (a front-wheel-drive variant of the RPX, originally found in the Radical SR8), capable of producing , in place of the previous engines. Turismo Carretera
Turismo Carretera (Road racing, lit., ''Road Touring'') is a popular stock car racing series in Argentina, and the oldest auto racing series still active in the world. The series is organized by Asociación Corredores de Turismo Carretera. The first TC competition took place in 1937 with 12 races, each in a different province. Future Formula One star Juan Manuel Fangio (Chevrolet) won the 1940 and 1941 editions of the TC. It was during this time that the series' Chevrolet-Ford rivalry began, with Ford acquiring most of its historical victories. Until the 1960s the races were held on temporarily closed roads, hence the series' name. These improvised circuits would often present a combination of dirt and asphalt surfaces unlike those of dedicated race tracks. Turismo Nacional (National tourism, lit., national touring) popularly known by its acronym TN, is a touring car racing series based in Argentina that has been active since 1961. It is organized by the Asociación de Pilotos de Automóviles de Turismo and is governed by the Automobile Sports Commission of the Argentine Automobile Club. The cars involved are almost standard preparation cars, that is to say practically a road car prepared for competitions. Originally, only models made in Argentina were allowed (hence the name, that is, nationally manufactured), but after Argentina's entry into Mercosur, Brazilian models were allowed.
