Mario De Clercq
Mario De Clercq (born 5 March 1966) is a Belgian former racing cyclist. He specialized in cyclo-cross racing but also rode on the road and circuit races during his career, he raced as a professional between 1991 and 2004. The majority of his years as a professional were under the sponsorship of and its various co-sponsors. Biography Born in Oudenaarde, Belgium, De Clercq is a three-time world cyclo-cross champion capturing the 1998, 1999 and 2002 UCI Cyclo-cross World Championships. In addition, De Clercq won the 2001 and 2002 Belgian National Cyclo-cross Championships. Accused of being in possession of banned substances, along with Johan Museeuw and nine other riders, investigators visited their houses in 2003, they faced an initial hearing in Kortrijk on 11 October 2005. It is neither a list of shame nor a list of illegality, as the first laws were not passed until 1965 and their implementation is an ongoing developing process. Thus the list contains doping incidents, those who have tested positive for illegal performance-enhancing drugs, prohibited recreational drugs or have been suspended by a sports governing body for failure to submit to mandatory drug testing. Vlaamse Druivenveldrit Overijse
The Druivencross, also known as Vlaamse Druivenveldrit, is a cyclo-cross race held in Overijse, Belgium. The race is organised by the VZW Sportvrienden Overijse and was first held in 1960. The race is regarded as a Cyclo-cross classic and has a difficult and dangerous parcours that often results in crashes. History Two members of the Overijse cycling club, Frans Vanhoey and Joris Bergiers, originally organized the event in 1960. Up until 1989 the race was usually held twice a year and was held three times in 1975. In addition the Belgian national cyclo-cross championships have been held on the course on five occasions in 1965, 1976, 1983, 1990 and 1996 and were organized by the same organizations.
