Mario (song)
"Mario" is a song by Congolese rumba guitarist and bandleader Franco Luambo Makiadi and his band TPOK Jazz, released in 1985 from his eponymous 1985 album through his label Éditions Populaires. Written and composed by Franco, the song tells the story of a young, educated man who chooses to live as a gigolo, relying on the financial support of an older woman instead of pursuing a career. With biting satire and social commentary, Franco used the track to critique a growing trend among Zairean youth—eschewing personal responsibility and effort in favor of comfort and opportunism. François Luambo Luanzo Makiadi (6 July 1938 – 12 October 1989) was a Congolese singer, guitarist, songwriter, bandleader, and cultural revolutionary. He was a central figure in 20th-century Music of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Congolese and African music, principally as the bandleader for over 20 years of TPOK Jazz, the most popular and influential African band of its time and arguably of all time. He is referred to as Franco Luambo or simply Franco. Mobutu Sese Seko Kuku Ngbendu wa za Banga ( ; born Joseph-Désiré Mobutu; 14 October 1930 – 7 September 1997), often shortened to Mobutu Sese Seko or Mobutu and also known by his initials MSS, was a Congolese politician and military officer who was the first and only president of Zaire from 1971 to 1997. Previously, Mobutu served as the second president of the Democratic Republic of the Congo from 1965 to 1971. He also served as the fifth chairperson of the Organisation of African Unity from 1967 to 1968. A story arc (also narrative arc) is the chronological construction of a plot in a novel or story. Madilu System
Jean de Dieu Makiese (28 May 1950 – 11 August 2007), popularly known as Madilu System, was a Congolese rumba singer and songwriter, born in what was then Léopoldville, Belgian Congo. He was once a member of the seminal band TPOK Jazz which dominated the Congolese scene from 1960s through 1980s. Music career Beginning as a teenager in 1969, Madilu sang with a series of bands: "Orchestre Symba", "Orchestre Bamboula", headed by Papa Noël, "Festival des Maquisards", led by Sam Mangwana, and Fiesta Popular. In 1973, under the new name Bialu thanks to President Mobutu's "authenticité" campaign, he formed the band Bakuba Mayopi which had a hit in 1976 with the song "Pamba-Pamba," after which he left to form a new group called Orchestre Pamba-Pamba.
