Marino Golinelli
Marino Golinelli (11 October 1920 – 19 February 2022) was an Italian art collector, businessman, and philanthropist. He was honored with the Order of Merit for Labour (1979). Golinelli was also a winner of the Golden Neptune Award (2010). Golinelli died on 19 February 2022, at the age of 101. The Order of Merit for Labour ( it, Ordine al Merito del Lavoro) is an Italian order of chivalry that was founded in 1923 by King Vittorio Emanuele III. It is awarded to those "who have been singularly meritorious" in agriculture, industry and commerce, crafts, lending and insurance. It is a continuation of the earlier ''Ordine al Merito Agrario, Industriale e Commerciale'' founded in 1901. Members of the order may use the title ''Cavaliere del lavoro''. The origins of the order lie with King Umberto I who, in 1898, instituted "a decoration for agricultural and industrial merit and a medal of honour." The first was the exclusive prerogative of large landowners and industrialists, the latter for their employees. ''il Resto del Carlino'' is an Italian newspaper based in Bologna, and is one of the oldest newspapers in Italy. Its rather evocative name means "the change you get from a ''carlino''", which the smallest part of the Papal ''baiocco'' (no longer legal tender in united Italy but a word still used in Bologna to refer to 10 cent coins): a sheet of local news was given out in shops to make up for the change owing after buying a cigar (which was worth 8 cents). The Golden Neptune (Italian: "Nettuno d'oro") is a prize conferred by the City of Bologna, since 1974, to citizens, companies, associations and cultural institutions that have brought honour to the city, through their professional or public activity. The prize, awarded by resolution of the municipal council of Bologna, is a reproduction of the statue of the Neptune fountain in Piazza Maggiore, a symbol of the city.
