Marina Puratchi
''Marina Puratchi'' () is a 2019 Indian Tamil language drama film based on the jallikattu protests. The film stars Naveen Kumar and Shruti Reddy and is directed by MS Raj, a former associate to director Pandiraj who also produced the film under his banner Pasanga productions. Al Rufian composed the music for the film while cinematography was handled by R. Velraj. The film has been honoured by the Norway Tamil Film Festival and Federation of Tamil Sangams of North America (FETNA). Plot The film begins with Sukanya (Shruti Reddy) and Parthasarathy (Naveen Kumar) attending an interview for the post of a reporter in a private channel. When the interviewer feels that they do not know much about the history of jallikattu and the protests which took place, he gives them two weeks’ time to learn thoroughly about the bull-taming sport. Pandiraj
Pandiraaj (formally credited and addressed as ''Pandiraj'') is an Indian film director, producer and writer who works in Tamil cinema. His debut film, ''Pasanga'' (2009), and directed many commercially successful films. He has won several awards, including two National Film Awards and five Tamil Nadu State Film Awards. Early life Pandiraaj was born 7 June 1976 and brought up in Virachilai, Virachilai Township, Pudukkottai District, Pudukkottai, Tamil Nadu, India. After Schooling, he moved to Chennai in 1996. The 2017 pro-jallikattu protests, also known as the pro-jallikattu movement, were leaderless apolitical youth protests which took place in January 2017 in large groups in several locations across the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. Some sporadic smaller protests also took place across India as well as overseas. The chief motivation of the protest was against the Supreme Court's order to ban jallikattu (occasionally also known as ''sallikattu'', ''eru taluval and'' ''manju virattu''), a traditional Tamil bull taming sport, which is held during Pongal, a harvest festival in the state of Tamil Nadu, India.
