Marimanti
Marimanti is a small market town in Tharaka South subcounty, of Tharaka-Nithi County, Kenya. The intermittent stream, Kararu, flows past the town. Its market is the second largest in the county after that in Chuka. Mzalendo Kibunjia
Kibunjia Nyagah Mzalendo is a Kenyan Archeologist trained in Nairobi and the United States — Rutgers. He was formerly the Director General National Museums of Kenya.(NMK), leading a multi-disciplinary state corporation. He was appointed as the first chairman of the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) a government agency intended to address and reduce inter-ethnic conflicts. He chaired the Nakuru Peace Accord agreement between the Agikuyu and the Kalenjin communities. He was the first Kenyan to hold a doctorate in Early Stone Age Archaeology after Richard Leakey convinced him that he should give up his scholarship in Anthropology and instead wait for a good opportunity to pursue studies in early Stone Age archaeology. Sub-Counties Of Kenya
Sub-counties are the decentralised units through which county governments of Kenya will provide functions and services. Except for the parts which fall under urban areas, sub-counties will coincide with the constituencies created under article 89 of the Constitution of Kenya. Tharaka-Nithi County is one of the 47 counties of Kenya located in Kenya's former Eastern Province. The county has an area of 2609 km2 and as of the 2019 census a population of 393,177. Tharaka-Nithi County is the home to the Chuka, Muthambi, Mwimbi and Tharaka sections of the Ameru (Meru) community. The people of Tharaka-Nithi County are now predominantly Christian with the Catholics, the Presbyterian, and the Methodists being the predominant religious communities. Intermittent River
Intermittent, temporary or seasonal rivers or streams cease to flow every year or at least twice every five years.(Tzoraki et al., 2007) Such rivers drain large arid and semi-arid areas, covering approximately a third of the earth's surface. The extent of temporary rivers is increasing, as many formerly perennial rivers are becoming temporary because of increasing water demand, particularly for irrigation. Despite inconsistent water flow, intermittent rivers are considered land-forming agents in arid regions, as they are agents of significant deposition and erosion during flood events. Chuka, Kenya
Chuka is a town on the eastern slopes of Mount Kenya, in Kenya about 65 km south Of Meru Town. It falls within Tharaka-Nithi County and the former Eastern Province. Between 1992 and 2009, Chuka was the capital of Tharaka Nithi District (split off from Meru District). Tharaka Nithi District was further split into Meru South and Tharaka Districts with Chuka remaining the Capital of Meru South. Later, Meru South and Tharaka were amalgamated into Tharaka-Nithi County. Chuka people The people of the area are Gichuka speaking, a dialect of the Kimeru language. Chuka Town is chiefly occupied by the Chuka people, one of the nine Meru dialect Speakers. They dwell on the south-eastern slopes of Mt.
