Marigold (Dave Grohl Song)
"Marigold" (originally titled "Color Pictures of a Marigold") is a song written and composed by American rock musician Dave Grohl, that was first released on '' Pocketwatch'', an album Grohl issued under the pseudonym Late! in 1992. A version was recorded and released in 1993 by Nirvana as a B-side to the "Heart-Shaped Box" single. A live version was later featured on the Foo Fighters' release '' Skin and Bones'' in 2006, garnering "Marigold" the distinction of being the only song released by both Nirvana ''and'' Foo Fighters, Grohl's two most distinguished bands. Dave Grohl
David Eric Grohl (; born January 14, 1969) is an American musician. He founded the rock band Foo Fighters, of which he is the lead singer, guitarist, principal songwriter, and only consistent member. From 1990 to 1994, he was the drummer of the grunge band Nirvana (band), Nirvana. In 1986, at age 17, Grohl joined the punk rock band Scream (band), Scream, replacing drummer Kent Stax. After Scream broke up in 1990, Grohl became the drummer for Nirvana. He first appeared on the band's second album, ''Nevermind'' (1991). After the 1994 suicide of Kurt Cobain, Nirvana disbanded and Grohl formed Foo Fighters as a one-man project. Krist Anthony Novoselic (; ; born May 16, 1965) is an American musician, politician and activist. Novoselic co-founded and played bass on every album for the rock music, rock band Nirvana (band), Nirvana. Novoselic and Kurt Cobain formed the band Nirvana in 1987, soon recruiting drummer Aaron Burckhard, who was the drummer of the group until October 1987. Through the late 1980s, Nirvana established themselves as part of the Seattle grunge scene, releasing three albums between 1989 and 1993. Simple Machines Records
Simple Machines was an American independent record label in Arlington, Virginia. The label was founded by Derek Denckla and Jenny Toomey and Brad Sigal while both were living in the Positive Force House in north Arlington, but Sigal and eventually Denckla stepped back from involvement. In 1990-91 Kristin Thomson stepped up and co-masterminded the project with Toomey and they started a new group house near Positive Force's. At its peak, the label had four paid workers: Toomey, Thomson, Pat Graham and Mickey Menard. The label was formed to "find creative ways to avoid the established and boring music business." Biography The label came into existence in 1989 working toward the 1990 release of the ''Simple Machines 7"'' series. The ''Working Holiday!'' 7" series followed.
