Marie Curie (musical)
Marie Curie is a Korean musical with book and lyrics by Seeun Choun and music by Jongyoon Choi. The show tells the life story of Marie Curie from her arrival at the Sorbonne University in Paris to study, to her discovery of radium with husband Pierre and her winning the Nobel Prize. The musical premiered in South Korea in 2018 and has since seen several performances in Asia and Europe, most recently in London's Charing Cross Theatre, UK. Synopsis As she arrives from her native home in Poland to study at the Sorbonne University in Paris, young Marie Sklodowska is certain she can make a name for herself and change the course of science. She discovers radium, a new chemical element, with her husband Pierre Curie and she's lauded with the Nobel Prize. But she is faced with an overwhelming moral dilemma. The Korea Musical Awards () is a representative awards ceremony held in January every year to revitalize the musical market and to encourage and congratulate the musicians who are working hard in the art scene. It is organized by Korea Musical Theater Association and supported by Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Arts Council Korea, and LG Arts Center, Seoul. First awards ceremony was held in 2017. There were other musical awards with similar name in Korea from 1995 to 2013, hosted by the newspaper ''Sports Chosun,'' however it's already discontinued. Irène Joliot-Curie
Irène Joliot-Curie (; ; 12 September 1897 – 17 March 1956) was a French chemist and physicist who received the 1935 Nobel Prize in Chemistry with her husband, Frédéric Joliot-Curie, for their discovery of induced radioactivity. They were the second married couple, after her parents, to win the Nobel Prize, adding to the Curie family legacy of five Nobel Prizes. This made the Curies the family with the most Nobel laureates to date. Her mother Marie Skłodowska-Curie and she also form the only mother–daughter pair to have won Nobel Prizes whilst Pierre and Irène Curie form the only father-daughter pair to have won Nobel Prizes by the same occasion, whilst there are six father-son pairs who have won Nobel Prizes by comparison. Anna Kowalska (née Chrzanowska; 26 April 1903 – 7 March 1969) was a Polish writer and diarist. Biography Early years and education Before the war, Chrzanowska lived and worked in Lviv, during the war - in Warsaw. As a native of Lviv, even after the war she felt a bond with the city of her childhood and youth, which she would reveal later in her work. She studied classical philology and graduated in romance studies at the University of Lviv. Knowledge of Greek and Latin, German, and especially fluent knowledge of French, which she mastered with confidence, along with a lively and absorbent intellectual sensitivity, allowed her to read in the original the works of the classics, and also to closely follow modern Western culture.
