Marie-Pier Boudreau Gagnon
Marie-Pier Boudreau Gagnon (born March 3, 1983, in Rivière-du-Loup, Quebec) is a Canadian synchronized swimmer and four times Commonwealth Games gold medalist. Career She first became interested in synchronized swimming at the age of seven after watching Sylvie Fréchette on television, and has been a member of Synchro Canada's national team since 1998. Marie-Pier represented Canada in the women's solo event at the 2005 FINA World Championships in Montreal. At the 2006 Commonwealth Games Gagnon won two gold medals in the women's solo and women's duet (with Isabelle Rampling). She repeated this feat at the following Commonwealth Games with a further two golds. At the 2008 Summer Olympics, Marie-Pier finished in sixth place with partner Isabelle Rampling in the women's duet. Synchronized Swimming
Synchronized swimming (in British English, synchronised swimming), also known as artistic swimming, is a sport where swimmers perform a synchronized choreographed routine, accompanied by music. The sport is governed internationally by World Aquatics (formerly known as FINA). It has traditionally been a women's sport, although FINA introduced a new mixed gender duet competition that included one male swimmer in each duet at the 2015 World Aquatics Championships and European Aquatics introduced men's individual events at the 2022 European Aquatics Championships. From 2024, men are able to compete in the team event at the Olympics. Synchronized swimming has been part of the Summer Olympics program since 1984, featuring both women's duet and team events. Élise Marcotte
Élise Marcotte (born September 27, 1988) was a Canadian synchronized swimmer who competed in the 2008 and 2012 Summer Olympics. Career Marcotte was a double gold medallist at the 2011 Pan American Games in Guadalajara in the team event and in the duet event with partner Marie-Pier Boudreau Gagnon. She was a two time Olympian, placing fourth in the team event in Beijing and fourth in both duet and team in London. Shortly after the London Olympics, Marcotte announced her retirement from competitive sports. Fluently bilingual, Marcotte holds an undergraduate degree in marketing from Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM) that she completed between Beijing and London Olympics and a Masters in Marketing from HEC Montréal, completed in a record of under 16 months. Isabelle Rampling (born June 24, 1985) is a Canadians, Canadian synchronized swimming, synchronized swimmer. Career At the 2006 Commonwealth Games, Rampling won a gold medal, which she followed up with two silver medals at the 2007 Pan American Games.
