Marie-Christine de Lalaing, or Philippe-Christine de Lalaing, was the daughter of Count Charles II of Lalaing and Marie de Montmorency-Nivelle. She was married to Pierre de Melun, the governor of Tournai. In the absence of her husband, she defended the city of Tournai against Alexander Farnese, Duke of Parma, in 1581. Defense of Tournai In the middle of the 16th Century, Calvinist preachers garnered large support in Tournai, despite the efforts of Philip II of Spain to eradicate the movement. In 1576, the States General of the Netherlands appointed Pierre de Melun as governor of Tournai. Marie-Christine Koundja (born 30 March 1957) is a Chadian writer and diplomat, who has worked in various departments, ministries and embassies of her country. The first published female Chadian author, she has written two novels: ''Al-Istifakh, ou, L'idylle de mes amis'' (2001) and ''Kam-Ndjaha, la dévoreuse'' (2009). Biography Koundja was born in the eastern Chad town of Iriba in 1957. After secondary school, she studied law for one year at the University of N'Djamena, interrupting her studies to enrol in secretarial school in Yaoundé, Cameroon. She worked for several Chadian state agencies in Cameroon, including the civil service, and was later named the minister of Foreign Affairs at the embassy of Chad. Marie Christine Kohler (July 13, 1876October 11, 1943) was a member of the Kohler family of Wisconsin and was prominent in the community life of Sheboygan and Kohler, active in social work and better homes projects, and was well known for her philanthropic deeds. She is currently the emerita research director at the French National Centre for Scientific Research, and spent much of her career at the University of Paris II Panthéon-Assas. She studies the role of elites in shaping public policy, as well as French foreign policy. Marie-Christine Gessinger (1992 – 3 March 2010) was an Austrian fashion model active from late 2000s to early 2010s before dying in a traffic collision at the age of 17. Born in Lower Austria, Gessinger began modeling after taking part in Ford's Supermodel of the World contest at the age of 15, winning the Vienna preliminary competition, and representing Austria at the New York finale.
