Mariana Ugalde
Mariana Ugalde Campo (born 7 January 1993) is a Mexican badminton player. She competed at the 2010 Summer Youth Olympics. Ugalde was part of Mexican winning team at the 2010 and 2018 Central American and Caribbean Games, and also a runner-up in 2014. In the individual event, she has collected a silver and two bronze medals in the women's doubles and another two bronze medals in the women's singles during her participation at the Central American and Caribbean Games from 2010 to 2018. Badminton
Badminton is a racquet sport played using racket (sports equipment), racquets to hit a shuttlecock across a net (device), net. Although it may be played with larger teams, the most common forms of the game are "singles" (with one player per side) and "doubles" (with two players per side). Badminton is often played as a casual outdoor activity in a yard or on a beach; formal games are played on a rectangular indoor court. Points are scored by striking the shuttlecock with the racquet and landing it within the opposing side's half of the court. Each side may only strike the shuttlecock once before it passes over the net. Veracruz, Mexico
Veracruz (), formally Veracruz de Ignacio de la Llave (), officially the Free and Sovereign State of Veracruz de Ignacio de la Llave ( es, Estado Libre y Soberano de Veracruz de Ignacio de la Llave), is one of the 31 states which, along with Mexico City, comprise the 32 Federal Entities of Mexico. Laura Sárosi
Laura Sárosi (born 11 November 1992) is a Hungarian badminton player who competed at the 2016 Summer Olympics held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. 2016 European Championships During the 2016 European Championships held in France, Sárosi was eliminated in the second round. She beat Croatian Dorotea Sutara 21–8, 21–5 in the first round, before losing to Karin Schnaase of Germany, 21–16, 14–21, 18–21. During the match, Sárosi loaned her spare shoes to her opponent, after one of Schnaase's own shoes had fallen apart during the first set. The result meant that Sárosi did not gain enough ranking points to qualify directly for the 2016 Summer Olympics and was instead named as the second reserve. Sárosi was later given a place in the Games after unused Tripartite Commission wildcards were reallocated. Giraldilla International
The Giraldilla International is the name of an international badminton tournament, which is organized as an open championship of Cuba. The competition is held annually since 2000 and is now a young supraregional Badminton Championship. Victoria Montero
Victoria Montero (born Victoria Eugenia Montero Enríquez; 25 August 1991) is a Mexican athlete who competes in badminton. In 2010, she participated at the 2010 Central American and Caribbean Games where she won the gold medal in the singles, doubles and team competitions as well as the bronze medal at the mixed competition. In 2011, she participated at the Pan American Games where she won the bronze medal at the singles competition. In 2012, she secured her qualification to represent Mexico at the London Olympics to participate in the singles event via the world ranking. Montero did not advance to the knock-out stage after losing two matches against Tai Tzu-ying of Chinese Taipei, and Anu Nieminen of Finland in the group K stage. Mexican Open (badminton)
The Mexican Open or Mexico International is an international badminton competition held in Mexico. The Mexican Open has been held together with the Mexican National Championship of Badminton which main difference is that foreign players can participate in the former competition, while the latter is just reserved for Mexican badminton players. The original intention was that both tournaments would be held annually; however, due to different circumstances it has not always been this the case. The first tournament was organised by the Mexican Association of Badminton and the Centro Deportivo Chapultepec in 1949 as the Mexico City International Tournament; there were four more editions held in 1952, 1958, 1959 and 1961.Herbert A. Taymara Oropesa Pupo (born 6 December 1995) is a Cuban badminton player. Career Oropeza started playing badminton at aged 14. She actually playing tennis since she was eight. She made the change because her mother asked her to find another sport where she was less exposed to the sun. In 2014, she competed at the Central American and Caribbean Games and she won gold in the mixed doubles event and two bronze medals in the women's doubles and mixed team events. Barranquilla () is the capital district of Atlántico Department in Colombia.
