Marian Eleganti
Marian Eleganti (born 7 April 1955) is a Catholic Church in Switzerland, Swiss Catholic prelate who served as an auxiliary bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Chur, Diocese of Chur from 2009 to 2021. From 1999 to 2009, Eleganti was Abbot of St. Otmarsberg Abbey. He is a member of the Benedictines. Life Eugen Eleganti was born in Uznach, Canton of St. Gallen, on 7 April 1955, the second of four children to the contractor Eugen Eleganti and Irma Egli. He attended the Benedictine Einsiedeln seminary from 1967, where he completed his studies in 1974. He joined the Benedictines at the monastery of Einsiedeln in 1975, taking the name "David". Ivo Fürer
Jakob Andreas Ivo Fürer (20 April 1930 – 12 July 2022) was a Swiss prelate of the Roman Catholic Church. He was Bishop of St. Gallen from 1995 to 2005. Biography Fürer was born in Gossau, Switzerland, and studied Catholic theology at Innsbruck University and canon law in Rome at the Pontifical Gregorian University, where in 1957 he earned a doctorate in canon law. He was ordained a priest on 3 April 1954. He was a chaplain in Herisau from 1958 to 1963 and in Altstätten from 1963 to 1967. He became Bishop's Secretary in St. Gallen in 1967 and then Bishop's Vicar in 1969. In 1971 he helped found the Working Community of Christian Churches in Switzerland, a body of the National Council of Churches. In 1972 he was the president of the Swiss and diocesan synods. Amédée Grab, O.S.B. (3 February 1930 – 19 May 2019) was a Swiss prelate of the Catholic Church who served as bishop of Chur from 1998 to 2007. He was an auxiliary bishop of the Diocese of Lausanne from 1987 to 1995 and then bishop there until 1998. Vitus Huonder
Vitus Huonder (21 April 1942 – 3 April 2024) was a Swiss prelate of the Catholic Church. A Traditionalist Catholic, he served as Bishop of Chur from 2007 to 2019. Biography Vitus Huonder was born in Trun on 21 April 1942. He studied at the Pontifical Atheneum Saint Anselm and at the University of Fribourg, earning a licentiate in theology. He was ordained a priest of the diocese of Chur on 25 September 1971 and then continued his studies, earning a doctorate in theology in Fribourg. He became vicar general of Chur in 1998. The federal popular initiative "against the construction of minarets" was a successful popular initiative in Switzerland to prevent the construction of minarets on mosques. In a November 2009 referendum, a constitutional amendment banning the construction of new minarets was approved by 57.5% of the participating voters.
