Chol Beny Marial (born 1 November 1999) is a South Sudanese college basketball player for the San Jose State Spartans of the Mountain West Conference. He previously played for the Maryland Terrapins and the Oregon State Beavers. Early life Marial was born in Rumbek, a city in what is now known as South Sudan. He grew up away from areas of war and famine, which were prevalent across the country. Marial played soccer from age five but was soon held back by his exceptional height and started playing basketball in 2013. In the same year, he was discovered at a Basketball Without Borders camp in Johannesburg, South Africa. Guor Mading Maker (born 15 April 1984), also known as Guor Marial, is a South Sudanese Olympic track and field athlete. He is a Dinka tribesman. Maker competed in the men's marathon at the 2012 Summer Olympics. Due to the civil war that saw South Sudan split from Sudan, he has refused to compete under the flag of the latter, stating, "It would be betraying my people". He was one of four athletes competing in the 2012 Summer Olympics under the Olympic flag rather than that of an individual country. Maker competed at the 2016 Summer Olympics for South Sudan, the country's first appearance at an Olympic Games. A film has been made of his life called ''Runner''. Juli Miquel Enrique Marial Tey (20 April 1853 – 16 August 1929) was a Spanish architect, politician, and deputy in the Cortes Españolas during the Bourbon restoration. Biography Juli Miquel Enric Marial Tey was born in Carrer de Gombau in Barcelona as the son of Miquel Marial Sola and Antònia Tey Torra. He was initially a member of the Federal Democratic Republican Party, and together with José María Vallés y Ribot, he formed the Barcelona section of the Republican Union Party in 1903.
