Maria Johansson
Maria Gunilla Johansson Tovle (born 7 April 1956 in Stockholm) is a Swedish actress, film director and professor at the Stockholm Academy of Dramatic Arts. In 1963, at the age of 6, Johansson auditioned for the part of "Tjorven" in the TV series '' Vi på Saltkråkan'' written by Astrid Lindgren, and was accepted. She played Tjorven in the series as well as in four subsequent full-length movies produced in 1964–1967. Johansson studied at the Swedish National Academy of Mime and Acting until 1981. She worked as a film, TV, and theatre actress until 1998, when she started working as a director. She became interested in research on acting, and received a master's degree and a PhD at Södertörn University. Her PhD thesis from 2012 is called ''Skådespelarens praktiska kunskap'' (''The actor's practical knowledge''). She is Professor of Research in the Arts at the Stockholm Academy of Dramatic Arts. ''Skärgårdsdoktorn'' is a Swedish television series produced by SVT Drama. The series ran from 1997 to 2000 and a total of 18 episodes were produced. In English, the title could be translated as ''The archipelago doctor'', and it came to be one of the most popular Swedish TV series of the 1990s. With an average viewership of approximately 2.5 million, it is considered one of the greatest successes of SVT Drama. Created by Lars Bill Lundholm and Gunilla Linn Persson, the first 8 episodes were directed by Martin Asphaug. The series was also broadcast in Norway, Finland and Denmark. In May 2009, plans to produce a cinema feature film of ''Skärgårdsdoktorn'' were announced. ''The Simple-Minded Murderer'' () is a 1982 Swedish drama film directed by Hans Alfredson, starring Stellan Skarsgård as the feeble-minded Sven Olsson. It was released to cinemas in Sweden on 12 February 1982. Plot The story takes place in 1930s Skåne, Sweden, and focuses on Sven, who is hare-lipped and thus can't speak correctly. Most people consider him stupid, and call him an idiot. The film begins with Sven and a woman, who we later learn is called Anna, driving a Rolls Royce across the landscape. The sun is setting, and in the sky Sven sees three angels. He and Anna hide in an old house, and while Anna makes herself comfortable, Sven throws a huge, bloodstained blade into a well.
