Maria-Chapdelaine is a regional county municipality in the Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean region of Quebec, Canada. Its seat is in Dolbeau-Mistassini. It runs from Lac Saint-Jean in the south to the deep interior of northern Quebec in the north. The territory had a population of 27 as of the Canada 2021 Census, and covered a land area of 17,629.74 km2. Albanel, Quebec
Albanel is a municipality in the Canadian province of Quebec, located within the regional county municipality of Maria-Chapdelaine. The municipality had a population of 2,262 as of the Canada 2016 Census. History The geographic township of Albanel was proclaimed in 1883, named after Jesuit missionary and explorer Charles Albanel (ca. 1616–1696). It had excellent land for farming, among the finest in the Lac Saint-Jean region at the time. Circa 1891, a mission was established in the township, served by pastors from Saint-Méthode and Normandin. In 1892, the Albanel post office opened. Passes-Dangereuses (until May 2009: Chute-des-Passes) is an unorganized territory in the Canadian province of Quebec, located between the Peribonka River on the east and the Mistassibi River on the west. Geography The territory, part of the regional county municipality of Maria-Chapdelaine, covered a land area of and had a population of 210 as of the Canada 2021 Census, all living in the village of Sainte-Élisabeth-de-Proulx (), which is north-east of Dolbeau-Mistassini in the geographic township of Proulx. Dolbeau-Mistassini
Dolbeau-Mistassini is a town in northern Quebec, Canada, at the confluence of the Mistassibi River, Riviere aux Rats and the Mistassini River, on Lac Saint-Jean. Dolbeau-Mistassini is in the Maria-Chapdelaine Regional County Municipality and is the commercial hub of Lac-St-Jean with big stores and shopping centres. The city was formed in 1997 through the amalgamation of the cities of Dolbeau and Mistassini. Dolbeau is located on the right (west) bank of the Mistassini River, in the geographic township of Parent (not in the adjacent Dolbeau Township). The town of Mistassini is on the left (east) bank of the Mistassini River at the confluence with the Mistassibi River, directly opposite Dolbeau. Normandin, Quebec
Normandin is a city located on the west side of Lac Saint-Jean in the Canadian province of Quebec. Normandin is named after the surveyor Joseph-Laurent Normandin. Its history of European-Canadian settlement began in 1878 when the first pioneers arrived. Alphonse Laliberté was elected as Normandin's first mayor in 1890. In 1926, the village was set up as a municipality distinct from the township; the notary J.S.N. Turcotte occupied the function of first magistrate.
