Margie V. Martin (née Margaret Virginia Smith; born February 7, 1979), nicknamed "The Marvelous One", is an American professional female bodybuilder. She is the first Ms Rising Phoenix of the 2015 and the 2016 IFBB Wings of Strength Rising Phoenix World Championships. U.S. Marine Corps career At the age of 17, Martin entered the Marine Corps, like her father before her. During her time in the Marines, she reached the rank of sergeant. American Gladiators (1989 TV Series)
''American Gladiators'' is an American competition television program that aired weekly in syndication from September 1989 to May 1996. The series matched a cast of amateur athletes against each other, as well as against the show's own "gladiators", in contests of strength and agility. The concept was originally created in 1982 by Johnny C. Ferraro and Dan Carr. Carr gathered the Gladiators and hosted the show, and Ferraro financed and produced the original competition at Erie Tech High School in Erie, Pennsylvania so Ferraro could have the event on film as to shop the new creation. In 1983 Ferraro financed, developed and packaged the American Gladiators as a movie project. In 1984 Carr sold his interest in a literary purchase to Flor-Jon Films. Andrea Shaw
Andrea Shaw (born December 18, 1983) is an American professional bodybuilding champion and physique and figure competitor. She holds three Ms. Olympia title wins and three Ms Rising Phoenix title wins. Early life Andrea grew up in Detroit, Michigan. As a girl growing up, she was into gymnastics and competitive cheerleading. At Benjamin Nolan Middle School, in eighth-grade aerobics class, her teacher taught her to make her own structures within the middle school which didn't offer adequate equipment or much organized sports. After middle school, she was burnt out from gymnastics and cheerleading, so she got into academics in high school. Alina Popa
Alina Popa (born October 12, 1978) is a Romanian-born professional female bodybuilder currently living in the USA. Early life and education Popa grew up Brăila, Romania. From the age of 12, she competed in track and field, initially to lose weight. In college, she studied English and Romanian for four years, majoring in the former with a teaching degree. Bodybuilding career Amateur At the age of 19, she chanced upon a gym in her hometown, where she encountered a young woman preparing for the National Junior Championships. This inspired Popa to begin a training regimen of her own. She would continue lifting for the next two years before a trainer suggested she train competitively.
