Margalit Fox (born April 25, 1961) is an American writer. After earning a master's degree in linguistics, she began her career in publishing in the 1980s. In 1994, she joined ''The New York Times'' as a copy editor for its ''Book Review'' and later wrote widely on language, culture and ideas for ''The New York Times'', '' New York Newsday'', '' Variety'' and other publications. She joined the obituary department of ''The New York Times'' in 2004 and authored more than 1,400 obituaries before her retirement from the staff of the paper in 2018. Avishai Margalit (; born 1939) is an Israeli professor emeritus in philosophy at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. From 2006 to 2011, he served as the George F. Kennan Professor at the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton. Early life and education Avishai Margalit was born in Afula, Mandatory Palestine, and grew up in Jerusalem. He attended high school at the Hebrew University Secondary School. He was educated in Jerusalem and did his army service in the airborne Nahal. In 1960 he started his studies at the Hebrew University, majoring in philosophy and economics. Dan Margalit (; born March 13, 1938) is an Israeli journalist, author and television host. Biography Dan Margalit was born and raised in Tel Aviv. His father, Israel, was a doctor, and his mother, Ora, was a psychologist. He studied international relations and modern Jewish history at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. He began writing for the Israeli newspaper ''Haaretz'' in the 1960s. Margalit was married to Eliora Lucci Margalit, with whom he had three daughters: Keren, Shira, and Noya. Gilad Margalit (; 1959 in Haifa, Israel – 23 July 2014) was an Israeli historian, writer, and professor in the Department of General History at the University of Haifa. Margalit's academic research focused on various aspects of post-war Germany and its process of coming to terms with the Nazi past (''Vergangenheitsbewältigung''), including antisemitism and attitudes to ethnic minorities — Romani, Turks and Jews. He particularly examined expressions and reflections of the Germans dealing with this matter. Margalit also worked on an oral history project about the Turks in Germany and their process of creating a collective German-Turkish identity. Meir Margalit (; b. 3 May 1906, d. 1974) was an Israeli stage actor. Biography Margalit was born in 1906 in Ostrołęka, in the Łomża Governorate of Congress Poland, then part of in the Russian Empire, and began acting in his home town at the age of 13. In 1922, he emigrating to Mandate Palestine within the framework of the Hechalutz movement. He worked initially as a construction worker in Tel Aviv and Rishon Lezion and as an agricultural worker in Hadera. For two and half years he was a pioneer in the Jerusalem section of Gdud HaAvoda and worked in a quarry. In 1925, he was chosen and accepted to the drama school of the Ohel Theater under the guidance of Moshe Halevi and in 1929 he joined the acting cast of the theatre.
