Mareks Ārents (born 6 August 1986) is a Latvian former track and field athlete who specialised in the pole vault. He won the Latvian outdoor national championship 12 times and the national indoor title nine times. He represented Latvia at multiple major championships, including the 2012 and 2016 Olympic Games. He later acted as coach to his compatriot, and 2024 Olympian, Valters Kreišs. Athletics career He qualified for 2012 Summer Olympics in London, but did not reach the final, making a best jump of 5.35 metres. At the 2013 European Indoor Championships in Gothenburg, Sweden, he jumped 5.50 m, ranking him in 11th place, missing the final by 10 cm. Mareks Mejeris (born 2 September 1991) is a Latvian professional basketball player for U-BT Cluj-Napoca of the Liga Națională, who plays the small forward and power forward position. Professional career He started his pro career in 2009 with his hometown team BK Liepājas Lauvas. After a couple of seasons in Liepāja, he moved to Spain. His first team abroad was CB Clavijo from LEB Gold, where he played for two seasons. Mareks Segliņš (born 4 July 1970 in Aizpute, Latvian SSR) is a Latvian politician of People's Party and a lawyer. He is the former Minister of Justice of Latvia, as well as former Minister of the Interior of Latvia. He graduated from Faculty of Law of University of Latvia in 1993 and afterwards worked in prosecutor's office and court of Liepāja city.
