Marcus Wiebusch
Marcus Wiebusch is a German musician and lyricist. From 1992 to 1999 he played in the political punk band ...But Alive, for which he sang, played guitar, and wrote lyrics. He also had two even more aggressive and politically charged, but less prolific and recognized by-projects, the bands ''Die vom Himmel fielen'' and ''Utell A Lie'', his only ever English-speaking project. During this time he established an independent record label called "B.A. Records" to put out his music and also to produce other bands like Tomte. In 1994, while still playing with ...But Alive, he released his first and only solo album "Hippiekacke", which did not really satisfy him. After breaking up all three groups he played in the ska band Rantanplan and still plays in the rock band Kettcar. Grand Hotel Van Cleef
Grand Hotel van Cleef is an independent record label headquartered in Hamburg, Germany. Label history Grand Hotel van Cleef was founded in September 2002 by the musicians Thees Uhlmann, Marcus Wiebusch and Reimer Bustorff. The newly formed band of Bustorff and Wiebusch '' Kettcar'' had recently recorded their first album, ''Du und wie viel von deinen Freunden'', (engl.: You and how many of your friends) but they found no label to release it. In addition, it was clear that Uhlmann's band Tomte would release their third album ''Hinter all diesen Fenstern (engl.: Behind all these windows)''. The big fan base even before the publication was ultimately the deciding factor to start the label. The name originated from a joke: On Thees Uhlmann's question on how to call the label, Tomte's ex-drummer Timo Bodenstein said "Hotel van Cleef" - he was working in the restaurant business, and it should be called something with gastronomy. Rantanplan (; alternatively spelled Ran-Tan-Plan and Ran Tan Plan) is a fictional hound dog created by a Belgian cartoonist Morris and French writer René Goscinny. Originally a supporting character in the ''Lucky Luke'' series, Rantanplan later starred in self-titled series. Rantanplan is a spoof of the male German Shepherd Rin Tin Tin. Tomte (band)
Tomte was an independent music, indie musical ensemble, band from Hamburg, Germany. Their lyrics are almost completely in German and their sound could be described as guitar pop with some punk influences. The group are a part of the “Hamburger Schule” (Hamburg indie “school”) on the basis of the band Tocotronic's influence on their work. Singer and guitarist Thees Uhlmann even worked as a roadie for Tocotronic's "K.O.O.K."-Tour and wrote the book "Wir Könnten Freunde Werden..." (We Could Become Friends...) about it. Tomte's first EP was entitled ''"Blinkmuffel",'' which came out in 1996. Two years later, Tomte released their first full-length album, ''"Du weißt, was ich meine" ("You Know What I Mean"). '' Following the trend of releasing an album every two years, ''"Eine sonnige Nacht"'' ''("A Sunny Night")'' was released in 2000.
