Marcus Evans (basketball)
Aaron Marcus Evans (born June 17, 1996) is an American professional basketball player for the Pioneros de Los Mochis in the Circuito de Baloncesto de la Costa del Pacífico (CIBACOPA). He played college basketball for the Rice Owls and the VCU Rams. High school career Evans began his high school career at Great Bridge High School before transferring to Cape Henry Collegiate School. Evans averaged 12.6 points, five assists and four steals per game as a junior. As a senior, Evans led the team to a state title. He signed with Rice in June 2014. College career Evans was named Conference USA freshman of the week ten times, including the final six weeks. As a freshman, Evans led Rice in scoring at 21.4 points per game. The point guard (PG), also called the one or the point, is one of the five positions in a regulation basketball game. A point guard has perhaps the most specialized role of any position. Point guards are expected to run the team's offense by controlling the ball and making sure that it gets to the right player at the right time. Above all, the point guard must understand and accept their coach's game plan; in this way, the position can be compared to a quarterback in American football. They must also be able to adapt to what the defense is allowing and must control the pace of the game. A point guard specializes in certain skills, like other player positions in basketball. In United States colleges, top-tier basketball is governed by collegiate athletic bodies including National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA), the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA), and the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA). Each of these various organizations is subdivided into one to three divisions, based on the number and level of scholarships that may be provided to the athletes. British Basketball League
The British Basketball League (BBL) is a men's professional basketball league in Great Britain and represents the highest level of play in the countries. The league is contested by 10 teams from England and Scotland. There are no clubs however from Wales or Northern Ireland. The BBL runs three additional knockout competitions alongside the BBL Championship which are the BBL Cup, the BBL Trophy and the end-of-season BBL Play-offs. The BBL sits above the National Basketball League and the Scottish Basketball Championship which effectively form the second tier of British basketball. There is currently no automatic promotion or relegation between the English and Scottish leagues and the BBL because of the franchise system in use in the BBL although several clubs have been successful in making the step up from the EBL in recent years. 2019–20 Richmond Spiders Men's Basketball Team
The 2019–20 Richmond Spiders men's basketball team represented the University of Richmond during the 2019–20 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. They were led by 15th-year head coach Chris Mooney and played their home games at the Robins Center as members of the Atlantic 10 Conference. The Spiders finished the season 24–7, 14–4 in A-10 play to finish in second place. Their season ended when the A-10 tournament and all other postseason tournaments were canceled due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. Previous season The Spiders finished the 2018–19 season 13–20, 6–12 in A-10 play to finish in a tie with Saint Joseph's for tenth place. The Bob Cousy Award presented by The College of the Holy Cross (or Bob Cousy Collegiate Point Guard of the Year Award) is an annual basketball award given by the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame to the top men's collegiate point guard. It is named after six-time National Basketball Association (NBA) champion Bob Cousy, who played point guard for the Boston Celtics from 1950 to 1963. Cousy won six championships with the Celtics. Annually, a list of players is nominated by college head coaches, members of College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), and members of the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC). The UCF Knights men's basketball team represents The University of Central Florida located in Orlando, Florida, United States.
