Marcia Bakry
Marcia Bakry (born 1937) is an American artist and the scientific illustrator for the Smithsonian's National Museum of Natural History's Department of Anthropology. Her illustrations are included in various academic books and scholarly articles. Books featuring her work include ''Mississippian Communities and Households'', ''Handbook of North American Indians, V. 12, Plateau'', and ''Anthropology Explored, Second Edition''. Biological illustration is the use of technical illustration to visually communicate the structure and specific details of biological subjects of study. This can be used to demonstrate anatomy, explain biological functions or interactions, direct surgical procedures, distinguish species, and other applications. The National Museum of Natural History (NMNH) is a natural history museum administered by the Smithsonian Institution, located on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., United States.
