Marcelo Dos Santos (writer)
Marcelo Dos Santos is an Australian-born playwright and screenwriter. His play ''Backstairs Billy'' won him the 2023 Critics' Circle Theatre Award for Most Promising Playwright, jointly with Matilda Feyiṣayọ Ibini. Early life Dos Santos was born in Sydney to a Brazilian father and an Australian mother. His parents divorced, and Dos Santos moved to England with his mother at the age of 10. He went on to study at the University of Bristol. William Tallon
William John Stephenson Tallon RVM (12 November 1935 – 23 November 2007), also known as Billy Tallon or Backstairs Billy, was a steward who worked for the British royal family, and was a member of the Queen Mother's staff at Clarence House in London. Early life Tallon was born above his grandfather's hardware shop in Birtley, County Durham, in 1935. A year later, the family had fallen on hard times, and moved to Coventry, where Tallon grew up in Norman Place Road in Coundon. He attended Barkers Butts Secondary Modern School. After he left school, he began training with a jeweller in Leamington Spa. The day he was to begin his apprenticeship, Tallon, then residing in Keresley, received a letter from the Comptroller of the Household, with a form to be completed and a travel warrant to Buckingham Palace. Duke Of York's Theatre
The Duke of York's Theatre is a West End theatre in St Martin's Lane, in the City of Westminster, London. It was built for Frank Wyatt and his wife, Violet Melnotte, who retained ownership of the theatre until her death in 1935. Designed by the architect Walter Emden, it opened on 10 September 1892 as the Trafalgar Square Theatre, and was renamed Trafalgar Theatre in 1894. The following year, it became the Duke of York's to honour the future King George V. The theatre's opening show was comic opera ''The Wedding Eve'' by Frédéric Toulmouche. One of the earliest musical comedies, '' Go-Bang'', was a success at the theatre in 1894. In 1900, Jerome K. Jerome's ''Miss Hobbs'' was staged as well as David Belasco's '' Madame Butterfly'', which was seen by Puccini, who later turned it into the famous opera. This was also the theatre where J. M.
