Marcel Tremblay (Montreal)
Marcel Tremblay is a Canadian politician and a City Councillor in Montreal, Quebec. He ran as a Civic Party of Montreal candidate to the City Council in a 1991 by-election in the district of Notre-Dame-de-Grâce but lost. In the wake of the province-wide Municipal Merger of 2001, Tremblay ran as a candidate for his brother's Gérald Tremblay's ''Montreal Island Citizens Union'' (french: Union des citoyens et des citoyennes de l’Île de Montréal or UCIM) in the district De Décarie. The party is now known as ''Union Montreal''. Tremblay won the election over Vision Montreal incumbent Sonya Biddle. He was re-elected in 2005, representing the district of Notre-Dame-de-Grâce. Instead of seeking his incumbent seat in the 2009 Montreal municipal election, he ran for borough mayor of Villeray–Saint-Michel–Parc-Extension, where he was defeated by Anie Samson of Vision Montréal. Notre-Dame-de-Grâce ( en, Our Lady of Grace), also nicknamed NDG, is a residential neighbourhood of Montreal in the city's West End, with a population of 166,520 (2016). An independent municipality until annexed by the City of Montreal in 1910, NDG is today one half of the borough of Côte-des-Neiges–Notre-Dame-de-Grâce. Projet Montréal (officially Projet Montréal - Équipe Valérie Plante) is a progressive, environmentalist municipal political party in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Founded in 2004, it is led by Valérie Plante, and holds a majority of seats on Montreal City Council. Origins Projet Montréal was created by environmental activists in May 2004. Peter McQueen
Peter McQueen (c. 1780 – 1820) was a Creek chief, prophet, trader and warrior from ''Talisi'' ( Tallassee, among the Upper Towns in present-day Alabama.) He was one of the young men known as Red Sticks, who became a prophet for expulsion of the European Americans from Creek territory and a revival of traditional practices. The Red Sticks attracted a majority of the population in the Upper Towns in the early nineteenth century. From open conflict with the Lower Towns in the Creek War, the Red Sticks were drawn into conflict with the United States after being attacked by territorial militia. The Red Sticks were defeated by Colonel Andrew Jackson with state militias, Creek and Cherokee warriors at Horseshoe Bend in 1814. 2009 Montreal Municipal Election
The city of Montreal, Quebec, Canada, held a municipal election at the same time as numerous other municipalities in Quebec, on November 1, 2009. Voters elected the Mayor of Montreal, Montreal City Council, and the mayors and councils of each of the city's boroughs.
