Marcel Eckardt
Marcel Eckardt (born 27 October 1989 in Gera, Thuringia) is a German snooker and pool referee. Career Eckardt is from Töppeln, close to Gera in Germany. At the age of 13 he became interested in snooker while watching Eurosport. With nowhere to play it close to his childhood home, he took up snooker later in his life, and continues to mostly play pool. In 2008 he completed his first course in snooker refereeing, earning the National Association of Thuringia C-licence in Hohenstein-Ernstthal, and later obtained the national B-licence. He first refereed professional players in 2010, during an exhibition tournament in Bruges, featuring Stephen Hendry and Steve Davis, amongst others. The same year he applied to referee the new Players Tour Championship, and he gained experience in European tournaments and in qualification matches for the Main Tour. Gera
Gera () is a city in the German state of Thuringia. The World Snooker Championship, or simply known as the World Championship, is the longest-running and most prestigious tournament in professional snooker. It is also the richest event to date with a total prize money of £2,395,000, including £500,000 for the winner. 2020 Northern Ireland Open
The 2020 Northern Ireland Open (officially the 2020 Matchroom.live Northern Ireland Open) was a professional ranking snooker tournament that took place from 16 to 22 November 2020 at the Marshall Arena in Milton Keynes, England. It was the fourth ranking event of the 2020–21 season and a part of the Home Nations Series. It was the fifth edition of the Northern Ireland Open. For the third consecutive edition of the tournament, Judd Trump defeated Ronnie O'Sullivan 9–7 in the final, winning his 19th ranking title. He is the first player to win a ranking event three times in a row since Stephen Hendry won the UK Championship from 1994 to 1996. 2020 Championship League (ranking)
The 2020 Championship League (also known as the BetVictor Championship League Snooker 2020) was a professional ranking snooker tournament that took place from 13 September to 30 October 2020 in the Ballroom, Stadium MK in Milton Keynes, England. The event featured 117 players from the World Snooker Tour as well as ten players from the 2020 Q School Order of Merit. It featured three rounds of round-robin groups of four, before a best-of-five final. It was the 15th edition of the Championship League, and it was a ranking tournament for the first time. Ryan Day made his second career maximum break in the final frame of his match against Rod Lawler, and John Higgins made his 11th career maximum in the final frame of his match against Kyren Wilson. The 2020 World Snooker Championship (officially the 2020 Betfred World Snooker Championship) was a professional snooker tournament that took place from 31 July to 16 August 2020 at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield, England. It was the 44th consecutive year that the World Snooker Championship was held at the Crucible. 2018 UK Championship
The 2018 UK Championship (officially the 2018 Betway UK Championship) was a professional ranking snooker tournament, that took place from 27 November to 9 December 2018. It was the ninth ranking tournament and the first Triple Crown event of the 2018/2019 season. The event was broadcast on BBC Sport and Eurosport in the United Kingdom. Ronnie O'Sullivan, the defending champion, defeated Mark Allen 10–6 in the final, winning his 7th UK Championship and his 34th ranking event overall. In doing so, he became the first player since Stephen Hendry in 1996 to successfully defend the UK title. The 2017 Northern Ireland Open (officially the 2017 Dafabet Northern Ireland Open) was a professional ranking snooker tournament that took place between 20 and 26 November 2017 in the Waterfront Hall in Belfast, Northern Ireland. The 2016 European Masters was a professional ranking snooker tournament that took place between 3–9 October 2016 at the Globus Circus in Bucharest, Romania. It was the sixth ranking event of the 2016/2017 season. Shaun Murphy made the 121st official maximum break in the second frame of his round two qualifying match against Allan Taylor. It was Murphy's fifth professional maximum break. 11 of the world's current top 16 players qualified for the main stages in Bucharest. The 2015 Welsh Open (officially the 2015 BetVictor Welsh Open) was a professional ranking snooker tournament held at the Motorpoint Arena in Cardiff from 16 to 22 February 2015. It was the sixth ranking event of the 2018/2019 season and a part of the Home Nations Series. The defending champion was Ronnie O'Sullivan, who defeated Kyren Wilson in the 2017 event. However, O'Sullivan would lose to Mark Davis 1–6 in the semi-final.
