Marc Baumgartner (born 1971) is a Swiss team handball player. He was top scorer at the 1993 World Men's Handball Championship, where the Switzerland men's national handball team, Swiss team placed fourth. He scored 41 goals at the tournament, the same as the two other top scorers Kyung-Shin Yoon and József Éles. He competed at the 1996 Summer Olympics, where Switzerland placed 8th. Team Handball
Handball (also known as team handball, European handball or Olympic handball) is a team sport in which two teams of seven players each (six outcourt players and a goalkeeper) pass a ball using their hands with the aim of throwing it into the goal of the other team. A standard match consists of two periods of 30 minutes, and the team that scores more goals wins. Modern handball is played on a court of , with a goal in the middle of each end. The goals are surrounded by a zone where only the defending goalkeeper is allowed; goals must be scored by throwing the ball from outside the zone or while "diving" into it. The sport is usually played indoors, but outdoor variants exist in the forms of field handball, Czech handball (which were more common in the past) and beach handball. Yoon Kyung-shin (born July 7, 1973 in Seoul) is a South Korean handball manager and former player. Playing career Yoon Kyung-shin could play in German Handball-Bundesliga through his outstanding performances in World Championships. He played for VfL Gummersbach from 1996 to 2006, and for HSV Handball, HSV Hamburg from 2006 to 2008. He became the top goalscorer of the Bundesliga seven times, and is currently all-time highest scoring player of Bundesliga with 2,905 goals. He was also voted the IHF World Player of the Year, World Player of the Year by the International Handball Federation (IHF) in 2001. József Éles
József Éles (born 16 February 1969 in Budapest) is a former Hungarian international handball player and handball coach. Playing career Club Early career and Veszprém success Éles started his career in Budapest Spartacus SC in the Hungarian second division. He moved to first division side Pemű-Honvéd in 1989 and led the team of the little town of Solymár to a podium place in 1991. His performances attracted the attention of domestic powerhouse KC Veszprém, which ran under the name ''Bramac SE'' at the time, and Éles was signed by the Bakony-side team in the summer of 1991. He spent thirteen years in Veszprém and won an impressive ten Hungarian Championship and as many Hungarian Cup titles. A vast majority of the players who scored at least 1000 goals, are from the modern era of the sport. This is partly because fewer games were played at international level than today. Péter Kovács held the record for most goals scored, until Guðjón Valur Sigurðsson beat his record in 2018. France is the country with the most entries on this list, with four players having scored 1000 or more goals. Only two players on this list have played for two different federations.
