Mapúa Cardinals Basketball
The Mapúa Cardinals basketball program represents Mapúa University (MU) in men's basketball as a member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (Philippines) (NCAA). The Mapúa Cardinals are one of the three NCAA seniors' basketball teams in Intramuros. History Originally as the Mapúa Institute of Technology (MIT), the Cardinals are named after the Major League Baseball team St. Louis Cardinals. The Cardinals have won six NCAA titles, the first in 1949, and the latest in 2024. Atoy Co won the NCAA MVP award in 1971, and would later coach the team in the 21st century. Freddie Hubalde won the NCAA MVP award in 1973, and will be teammate of Co in the grand-slam winning 1983 Crispa Redmanizers team. Alvin Patrimonio then played for the Cardinals from 1983 to 1986, becoming NCAA MVP in his final two seasons with MIT. Mapúa University (), also known simply as Mapúa or MU, is a Private university, private Research university, research-oriented Nonsectarian, non-sectarian university located in Metro Manila, Philippines. The university was founded in 1925 by the first registered Filipino architect, Tomás Mapúa, a graduate of Cornell University in New York (state), New York, US. The San Beda Red Lions basketball program represents San Beda University (SBU) in men's basketball as a member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (Philippines) (NCAA). The San Beda Red Lions are the only remaining founding team in the NCAA. Clint Escamis (born October 13, 2000) is a Filipino collegiate basketball player for the Mapúa Cardinals of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). Career Playing career Escamis is both a juniors' and seniors' champion of the NCAA. He was a top point guard of the Mapua Red Robins before getting the coveted rookie of the year-MVP honors in 2023 as a Cardinal. The De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde Blazers and Lady Blazers are the National Collegiate Athletic Association (Philippines), NCAA senior varsity teams of De La Salle–College of Saint Benilde. The Blazers were formerly a member of the National Capital Region Athletic Association (NCRAA) before being admitted to the NCAA in 1998. NCAA Season 97 Seniors' Basketball Tournament
The NCAA Season 97 men's basketball tournament was the basketball tournaments of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (Philippines) for its 2021–22 season. This was the first tournament since the COVID-19 pandemic in the Philippines, and since 2019 after the planned 96th season was cancelled because of the pandemic. Only the men's tournament for college students was held; the juniors' tournament for senior high school students last held in 2019 was canceled. NCAA Season 92 Basketball Tournaments
The 2016 basketball tournaments of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (Philippines), otherwise known as NCAA Season 92, officially opened on June 25, 2016 at the Mall of Asia Arena, Pasay. The showdown between season hosts San Beda Red Lions and season 91 men's basketball champions Letran Knights will be the first game, while JRU Heavy Bombers will face Mapua Cardinals in the second game. The games of the men's basketball will be played on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, while the junior games will be conducted every Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays.
