Manya Krobo District
Manya Krobo District is a municipality located in Eastern Region, Ghana. Originally created as an ordinary district assembly in 1988, which was created from the former Kaoga District Council. However on 29 February 2008, it was split off into two new districts: Lower Manya Krobo District (which it was elevated to municipal district assembly status on 6 February 2012; capital: Odumase) and Upper Manya Krobo District (capital: Asesewa). The municipal assembly is located in the eastern part of Eastern Region and has Odumase as its capital town. Districts Of Ghana
The Districts of Ghana are second-level administrative subdivisions of Ghana, below the level of Regions of Ghana, region. There are currently 261 local metropolitan, municipal and district assemblies (or MMDA's). History The districts of Ghana were re-organized in 1988/1989 in an attempt to decentralize the government and to assist in development. The reform of the late 1980s subdivided the regions of Ghana into 110 districts, where local district assemblies should deal with the local administration. By 2006, an additional 28 districts were created by splitting some of the original 110, bringing their number up to 138. In February 2008, there were more districts created and some were upgraded to municipal status. This brought the final number to 170 districts in Ghana. Eastern Region, Ghana
The Eastern Region is located in the Eastern part of Ghana and is one of the sixteen administrative regions of Ghana. Eastern region is bordered to the east by the Lake Volta, to the north by Bono East Region and Ashanti region, to the west by Ashanti region, to the south by Central region and Greater Accra Region. Krobo Odumase
Krobo Odumase is a town and capital of Lower Manya Krobo Municipal District in the Eastern Region of Ghana. The Presbyterian Boys' Senior High School was formerly located here. Prominent sites The town is a proposed site for the construction of University of Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation. History The Basel Mission ran a school in Odumase Krobo by 1857. The town became Manya Krobo's capital when Emmanuel Mate Kole became Konor in 1892.
