Manuila Raobu
Manuila Raobu (born 18 September 2000) is a Tuvaluan Weightlifter representing Tuvalu at the Commonwealth Games and Pacific Games. At the 2016 Oceania Weightlifting Championships, he came first in the 56kg youth category. He was part of Tuvalu's team for the 2018 Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast, where he was Tuvalu's flagbearer at the opening ceremony. He later competed at the 2015, 2019 and the 2023 Pacific Games. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he was stranded in Samoa. While there, he trained with Samoan weightlifters under Tuaopepe Jerry Wallwork. At the Oceania Championships 2019, he came in position five and position three in Oceania Junior Championship. At the 2022 Pacific Mini Games in Saipan, Northern Mariana Islands, he won two gold medals in the 73kg category and gold in the 2022 Oceania Weightlifting Championships held simultaneously. Funafuti
Funafuti is the capital of the island nation of Tuvalu. It has a population of 6,320 people (2017 census), and so it has more people than the rest of Tuvalu combined, with approximately 60% of the population. It consists of a narrow sweep of land between wide, encircling a large lagoon (''Te Namo'') long and wide. The average depth of the Funafuti lagoon is about 20 fathoms (36.5 metres or 120 feet). With a surface area of , it is by far the largest lagoon in Tuvalu. Tuvalu At The 2023 Pacific Games
Tuvalu participated in the 2023 Pacific Games in Honiara, Solomon Islands from 19 November to 2 December 2023. Tuvalu made its first appearance at the 1979 South Pacific Games held in Suva, Fiji. Solomon Islands
Solomon Islands is an island country consisting of six major islands and over 900 smaller islands in Oceania, to the east of Papua New Guinea and north-west of Vanuatu. Honiara
Honiara () is the capital and largest city of Solomon Islands, situated on the northwestern coast of Guadalcanal. , it had a population of 92,344 people. The city is served by Honiara International Airport and the seaport of Point Cruz, and lies along the Kukum Highway. 2023 Pacific Games
The 2023 Pacific Games, officially known as the XVII Pacific Games, will be a continental multi-sport event for Oceania countries and territories that is scheduled to be held in Honiara, Solomon Islands between 19 November and 2 December 2023. 2022 Pacific Mini Games
The 2022 Pacific Mini Games was held in Saipan, Northern Mariana Islands. It was the eleventh edition of the Pacific Mini Games and the first to be hosted by the Commonwealth of Northern Mariana Islands. This event was originally going to be held in 2021, but was postponed to 2022 due to COVID-19 pandemic. Host selection The Northern Mariana Islands were awarded the rights to host the games on July 4, 2014 during the Pacific Games Councils General Assembly meeting in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea. The decision was unanimous after the CNMI were the only bidder after the deadline. Tuaopepe Asiata Jerry Wallwork (born 29 August 1972) is a Samoan weightlifter. He competed in the men's heavyweight I event at the 1992 Summer Olympics.
