Manuel Pérez y Curis (May 21, 1884 – November 22, 1920) was a Uruguayan poet, born in Montevideo, Uruguay. Biography Pérez y Curis was the son of Julián Pérez Rial and Manuela Curis. ''Apolo'' magazine, which appeared monthly and contained articles on art and sociology, is the main source of his written work. his main written work. Manuel Benítez Pérez (born 4 May 1936), more commonly known as ''El Cordobés'' (The Cordovan), is a Spanish matador, and actor active in the 1960s who brought an unorthodox acrobatic and theatrical style to the bullring. Career One of the original techniques practiced by El Cordobés was first shown at Anjucar. He waved his ''banderilla'' (Columpio) away, broke his banderillas down to 'pencil length', and standing with his back to the bull as it charged, moved his right leg out moments before the bull was upon him, causing the bull to swerve and allowing El Cordobés a moment to slam in the banderillas from just behind the left horn. This maneuver was repeated in bullfights across Spain, sometimes with even more dangerous variations, such as standing with his back to the barerra and driving in the banderillas after the horns passed either side of him. Manuel Pérez García is associate professor at the Department of History (School of Humanities) of Shanghai Jiao Tong University. He is also Distinguished Researcher at Pablo de Olavide University (UPO) of Seville (Spain). From 2013 to 2017 he was associate professor at the School of International Studies, Renmin University of China. General Manuel Pérez Treviño (June 5, 1890 – April 29, 1945) was a Mexican politician and was an important military and political leader during and after the Mexican Revolution. Pérez Treviño was born on June 5, 1890, to Jesús Pérez Rodríguez and Candelaria Treviño Rivera in Villa de Guerrero in the state of Coahuila. He was married to Esther González Pemoulié. Emanuel Perez (December 28, 1871 – 1946) was an American early New Orleans jazz cornetist and bandleader. Life Some details of his early life remain obscure. He was born into a Creole of Color family of Spanish, French and African descent. One of his ancestors was an officer of the free black regiment which fought in the Battle of New Orleans. At the turn of the century, Perez became a member of the Onward Brass Band, leading it from 1903 to 1930. He also started his own brass band, called the Imperial Orchestra, which operated from 1901–08. The Onward Brass Band was one of the most respected of its day. Some of the best-known players in New Orleans were a part of the group, including King Oliver, Peter Bocage, Lorenzo Tio, George Baquet, Isidore Barbarin, and Benny Williams.
