Manta S.C.
Manta Sport Club was an Ecuadorian professional football club based in Manta. Founded in 1915, it spent the majority of its years bouncing between the top-flight Serie A and the Serie B until 1985. Statistically, it is the most successful club from Manta. The club later folded in 1996 after 10 years in the Segunda Categoría. The club dissolved a little after 81 years of existence when it ceded its team to Manta FC. Estadio Jocay
The Estadio Municipal Jocay is a multi-use stadium in Manta, Ecuador, Manta, Ecuador. It is currently used mostly for football (soccer), football matches and is the home stadium of Delfín S.C. of the Serie A de Ecuador and Manta F.C. of the Serie B de Ecuador. Manta, also known as San Pablo de Manta, is a city in Ecuador, cantonal head of the Manta Canton, as well as the largest and most populated city in the Manabí Province. It is the seventh most populous in the country. Manta has existed since Pre-Columbian times. It was a trading post for the Manta, also known as Manteños. According to the 2022 census, the city had a population of 258,697. In the 21st century, its main economic activity is tuna fishing. Other economic activities include tourism and a chemical industry, with products ranging from cleaning supplies to oils and margarine. Located on the Pacific coast, Manta has the largest seaport in Ecuador. The port was used by Charles Marie de La Condamine upon his arrival in Ecuador in 1735 when leading the French mission to measure the location of the equator. Manta Fútbol Club is a professional football club from the city of Manta, Ecuador. Founded in 1998, they play in Serie A. History Manta was founded in 1998 after the purchase of the franchise rights from the defunct Manta Sport. From 1999–2001, the club competed in the Segunda Categoría, the third tier of Ecuadorian football league system before being promoted in 2002 to Serie B. Manta won promotion again in 2003 to Serie A for the first time but finished poorly and were relegated back to Serie B where they would spend the next six seasons. 2009 saw the club back in Serie A but no titles were forthcoming and they were relegated again in 2014. They got promoted back to the Serie A in 2020 played in the first tier after a seven-year absence. The Primera Categoría Serie B, shortened to Serie B or Primera B, is a professional football league in Ecuador. It is in the second tier of the Ecuadorian football league system.
