Manora Point Lighthouse
The Manora Point Lighthouse is an active lighthouse located in Manora, Karachi, on the Arabian Sea in Pakistan, where it is fourth tallest lighthouse in the country at a height of . The lighthouse was first established on the point in 1851, being second oldest light station in the former British Indian Empire. Extensively rebuilt in 1889, it still remains operational today as a navigational aid for ships entering the nearby Port of Karachi. The conical masonry tower, with a lantern and gallery, has a daymark on the seaward side of the lighthouse of horizontal bands of red, white and black. In 1908, the lighthouse was improved with the installation of a hyperradiant Fresnel lens manufactured by the English company Chance Brothers. The management of the lighthouse is undertaken by the Karachi Port Trust and although the site is open to the public the island is itself a restricted zone due to it being surrounded by Pakistan Navy bases. Manora, Karachi
Manora ( sd, منهوڙو, ur, ) is a small peninsula that forms a protective barrier between Karachi Harbour to the north and the Arabian Sea to the south. Manora, having a total population of 4,273 local residents (as per 2017 census), was formerly an island, but due to silting is now connected to the mainland by a 12 kilometer long natural sandbridge known as Sandspit. The entrance to Karachi was once guarded against pirate raids by the Manora Fort built in the 1790s, which was later upgraded by the British, and then the Pakistan Navy. Geography Manora and neighboring islands form a protective barrier between Karachi Harbour to the north and the Arabian Sea to the south. The western bay of the harbor contains mangrove forests which border the Sandspit and Manora island. Brighton
Brighton () is a seaside resort and one of the two main areas of the City of Brighton and Hove in the county of East Sussex, England. It is located south of London. Prong's Lighthouse
Prong's Lighthouse is a lighthouse situated at the southernmost point of Bombay (now Mumbai), India in the Colaba (Navy Nagar) area. It was built in 1875 by Thomas Ormiston at the cost of Rs. 620255. It is a 41 meters high circular tower with a 23-meter range and the beam can be seen at a distance of . It is one of three lighthouses of the city.
