Manolo Elizalde
Manuel "Manolo" Elizalde Sr. y Díaz was a prominent Filipino businessman. Biography Elizalde was born in Manila to José Joaquín Elizalde and Carmen Díaz Moreau. He was a brother of diplomat Joaquín Miguel ("Mike"), Juan Miguel, Ángel, Federico ("Fred") and Carmenchu Elizalde. During the 1920s, he was nicknamed "Lizz" Elizalde, playing the clarinet and the saxophone alongside his brother Fred. He was married to Mary Cadwallader and among the couple's children were Manuel Jr. ("Manda"), Mary Ruth and Fred J. Elizalde. Tanduay Rhum Masters
The Tanduay Rhum Makers (1975-1987) and Tanduay Rhum Masters (1999-2001) were two basketball franchises associated with the same liquor brand that played in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). The original franchise, owned by Elizalde & Co., Inc., was a founding member of the PBA. From 1975-1980, the team played under the name Tanduay Distillery; Tanduay ESQ and Tanduay Esquires; then as, YCO-Tanduay in 1981-1983. The final name used by the original franchise was the Tanduay Rhum Makers (1983-1987). The original franchise won a total of three PBA championships. In 1988, its PBA franchise was acquired by Pure Foods Corporation and played as Purefoods. The second franchise played under the name Tanduay Rhum Masters and was owned by Tanduay Distillers, Inc. The YCO Painters were the multi-titled Filipino basketball team of the YCO Athletic Club that was active from the late 1940s to 1981 in the now-defunct Manila Industrial and Commercial Athletic Association (MICAA). YCO Athletic Club was founded by businessman and sportsman Manuel “Manolo” Elizalde and owned under his company Elizalde & Co., Inc., manufacturers of YCO floor wax and paints. The Painters were known as the first basketball dynasty in the Philippines, having dominated MICAA and BAP tournaments during the 1950s to early 1960s. The team's most famous player was Carlos Loyzaga, considered as the greatest Filipino basketball player of his time. It was established in 1909 during the American colonial era by Governor General William Cameron Forbes as a venue for polo and leisure for the wealthy elite. It was originally located in Pasay prior to World War II, after which it transferred to its present location in Forbes Park, Makati. Tambo is an administrative division in southern Metro Manila, the Philippines. It is a coastal barangay in the city of Parañaque situated just south of Baclaran adjoining the Ninoy Aquino International Airport complex to the east. The approximate boundaries are Alonzo Street and Asean Avenue in Baclaran to the north and McDonough Road and Coastal Terminal Road in Don Galo to the south, with the Estero de Tripa de Gallina and Manila Bay to the east and west.
