Manoj Kumar Katiyar
Lieutenant General Manoj Kumar Katiyar, PVSM, AVSM is a serving general officer of the Indian Army. He currently serves as the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief Western Command. He earlier served as the Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) at IHQ of MoD (Army), prior to that he was General Officer Commanding I Corps. He is also the Colonel of the Rajput Regiment since 1 February 2022. Early life and education The general officer is an alumnus of Sainik School, Ghorakhal. He then attended the National Defence Academy and the Indian Military Academy. He has done all important courses to include Defence Services Staff Course, Wellington and National Defence College course. Indian Military Training Team
The Indian Military Training Team (IMTRAT), established since 1961–62, is a training mission of the Indian Army in Bhutan. IMTRAT is responsible for the training of the personnel of the Royal Bhutan Army (RBA) and the Royal Bodyguard of Bhutan (RBG). It is the oldest training team sent outside India to a friendly foreign nation. IMTRAT is headquartered at Haa Dzong in Western Bhutan. Siachen Glacier
The Siachen Glacier is a glacier located in the eastern Karakoram range in the Himalayas at about , just northeast of the point NJ9842 where the Line of Control between India and Pakistan ends. National Defence Academy (India)
The National Defence Academy (NDA) is the joint defence service training institute of the Indian Armed Forces, where cadets of the three services i.e. the Indian Army, the Indian Navy and the Indian Air Force train together before they go on to respective service academy for further pre-commission training. The NDA is located in Khadakwasla, Pune, Maharashtra. It is the first tri-service academy in the world. The alumni of NDA include 3 Param Vir Chakra recipients and 12 Ashoka Chakra recipients. Sainik School
The Sainik Schools are a system of schools in India established and managed by the Sainik Schools Society under Ministry of Defence (MoD). They were conceived in 1961 by V. K. Krishna Menon, the then Defence Minister of India, to rectify the regional and class imbalance amongst the Officer cadre of the Indian Military, and to prepare students mentally and physically for entry into the National Defence Academy (NDA) and Indian Naval Academy (INA). Sainik Schools, along with 1 RIMC and 5 RMS (Rashtriya Military Schools), contribute 25% to 30% officer cadets to NDA and INA.
