Uttar Pradesh (; , 'Northern Province') is a state in northern India. Chitrakoot district is one of the districts of Uttar Pradesh state of India in the Bundelkhand region and Chitrakoot town is the district headquarters. Chitrakoot district is a part of Chitrakoot Division. The district occupies an area of 3,216 km².The district has a population of 991,730 (2011 Census). As of 2011 it is the second least populated district of Uttar Pradesh (out of 75), after Mahoba. Legislative Assembly elections were held in Uttar Pradesh from 10 February to 7 March 2022 in seven phases to elect all 403 members for the 18th Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly. The election to the 17th Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly was held from 11 February to 8 March 2017 in 7 phases.
