Manheim Central High School is a secondary school in the Manheim Central School District. It is located in Manheim, Pennsylvania, United States. Athletics Football Manheim Central High School has an accomplished football team. Head Coach George Male fielded the first undefeated team in 1981 who were captained by Rick Smith and Tim O'Shea. Smith has been the Middle School head coach for more than 20 years. In 2003, the Barons had an undefeated season and were the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association Triple-A State Champions. Also, in 2009, the team went undefeated all the way up to the state championship game, where they were named the runner-up. The 2009 team had a 15–1 record. In 2011, the team suffered a detrimental loss to the team; four student-athletes died in a two-car accident on January 16. Manheim is a borough in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 5,064 at the 2020 census. The borough was named after Kerpen- Manheim, Germany. History Manheim was laid out by Henry William Stiegel in 1762 on a land tract in Rapho Township, though it wasn't incorporated until 1838. He set out to build an industrial empire and founded the Manheim Glassworks. After financial failure, he was forced to sell the development in 1775. After several failed attempts at resurrecting the glassworks, it closed in 1780. The first railroad train came into Manheim on January 1, 1862, with the completion of the first division of the Columbia and Reading Railroad. In 1884, another forward step was the laying of water pipes and the beginning of service by the Manheim Electric Company, which set up a plant in Bomberger's Mill at the end of Mill Street. Henry William Stiegel
Henry William Stiegel (May 13, 1729 in Cologne, Germany – January 10, 1785 in Pennsylvania, USA) was a German-American glassmaker and ironmaster. Stiegel was the eldest of six children born to John Frederick and Dorothea Elizabeth Stiegel in the Free Imperial City of Cologne. He immigrated to British North America in 1750 with his mother and younger brother, Anthony (his father and other siblings had died). The Stiegels sailed on a ship known as the ''Nancy'', and arrived in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on August 31, 1750. After arriving, Stiegel took a job in Philadelphia with Charles and Alexander Stedman, most likely as a clerk or bookkeeper. In 1752, Stiegel moved to what is now Lancaster County, Pennsylvania to work with Jacob Huber, an ironworker. He married Huber's daughter, eighteen-year-old Elizabeth, the same year. Matthew Nagy ( or ; born April 24, 1978) is an American football coach, and former arena football quarterback, who is the senior assistant and quarterbacks coach for the Kansas City Chiefs of the National Football League (NFL).
