Mangalfera
''Mangalfera'' is 1949 Indian Gujarati social drama film directed by Ratibhai Punatar. It starred Nirupa Roy and Manhar Desai in lead roles and was a remake of the 1941 Hindi film '' Shaadi''. Plot In their childhood, Shobha and Mangal's fathers, in order to ensure their friendship, decide to engage them at a young age. However, as Shobha grows up, her wealthy and arrogant father breaks his promise and insists on marrying her off to a rich groom. Nirupa runs away from home and, while wandering, comes across a poor disabled man working as a porter outside a small railway station. She is shocked to discover him as Mangal whom she was engaged to in her childhood. She marries him. Suddenly, this poor couple is buried under snow during a blizzard, but they emerge unharmed and, miraculously, Mangal is completely healed of his disability. He becomes healthy as well as rich. Avinash Vyas
Avinash Vyas was an Indian music composer, lyricist and singer of Gujarati films who composed music for over 190 Gujarati films. He was a winner of Gujarat State Film award for the best lyricist and best music 25 times. He was honoured by the Government of India in 1970 with Padma Shri, the fourth highest Indian civilian award. Biography Avinash Vyas was born in the Indian state of Gujarat on 21 July 1912 and had his initial music training under Ustad Allauddin Khan. His career started with His Master's Voice for their ''Young India'' label where he cut his first gramophone record in 1940 and debuted as a film music composer in with the Gujarati film, Mahasati Ansuya in 1943, partnering the renowned musician, Ustad Alla Rakha. Vaju Kotak (30 January 1915 – 29 November 1959) was a Gujarati writer, publisher, journalist, an Indian film screenwriter and most known to be Founder of famous Gujarati weekly magazine '' Chitralekha'', published in Gujarati and Marathi. Early life Kotak was born on 30 January 1915 in Rajkot, Gujarat. He studied up to the first year of BA. In 1937, he came to Ahmedabad for a job and from 1939, settled in Bombay. Nirupa Roy
Nirupa Roy (born Kokila Kishorechandra Bulsara; 4 January 1931 – 13 October 2004) was an Indian actress who had appeared in Hindi films. Noted for her portrayals of tragedy and sorrow, Roy was known for her acting ability, and was uncharitably called the "Queen of Misery" in Hindi film circles. Roy was active from 1946 to 1999, and was best known for playing motherly roles. Roy appeared in over 250 films, and won three Filmfare Awards throughout her career, as well as being nominated for one. In 2004, Roy received the Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award. Dulari (real name Ambika Gautam) (18 April 1928 – 18 January 2013) was an Indian actress, who worked as character actors in Hindi cinema, appearing in 135 films, most notably ''Jab Pyar Kisi Se Hota Hai'' (1961), ''Mujhe Jeene Do'' (1963), ''Teesri Kasam'' (1966), ''Padosan'' (1968) and ''Deewaar'' (1975). Barkat Ali Ghulam Hussain Virani, known by his pen name Befām, was Gujarati author and poet especially known for his ghazals. Life Barkat Ali was born on 25 November 1923 in Ghanghali village near Sihor in Bhavnagar district. He was interested in literature since age of fourteen when he wrote his first ghazal. He completed his primary and secondary education from Bhavnagar. He was taught poetry by Qismat Qureshi. He left matriculation to participate in 1942 Quit India Movement.
