Mangalasutram (film)
''Mangalasutram'' () is a 1966 Indian Telugu-language drama film, produced and directed by A. K. Velan under the Arunachalam Studios banner. It stars N. T. Rama Rao and Devika, with music composed by T. Chalapathi Rao. Plot Joga Rao, a leading advocate, lives with his wife, Parvati, and their two children, Raju & Shankar. Once, Raju moves to their village, where he falls for Shanta. Meanwhile, Parvati desires to knit Raju with a naive girl than her civilized niece Kamala. So, she proceeds to the village when Raju backs, and she only fixes his alliance with Shanta. Being unbeknownst to it, Raju denies it and seeks his father's aid. Joga Rao schemes to flee from the wedding venue, and he designs Shankar as the bridegroom. Overhearing it, Shankar forthwith fuses his love interest, Bala. Devika
Devika Devadoss (born Prameela Devi; 25 April 1943 – 2 May 2002) was an Indian actress who worked in Tamil cinema, Tamil and Telugu cinema, Telugu along with a few Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi films. She was one of the popular lead actresses in the 1960s. Devika is the daughter of Gajapati Naidu and the grand daughter of Telugu cinema doyen and pioneer Raghupathi Venkaiah Naidu. Srirangam Srinivasa Rao (30 April 1910 – 15 June 1983), popularly known as Sri Sri, was an Indian poet and lyricist who is known for his works in Telugu literature and films. Noted for his anthology '' Maha Prasthanam'', Sri Sri is a recipient of a National Film Award, a Nandi Award and a Sahitya Akademi Award. He was a member of Pen India, Sahitya Academy, vice-president of the South Indian Film Writers Association, Madras and president of the Revolutionary Writers Association of Andhra. Life Srirangam Srinivasa Rao, popularly known as Sri Sri, was born into a Telugu speaking family on 30 April 1910 in Visakhapatnam of present-day Andhra Pradesh. His parents were Pudipeddi Venkatramaniah and Atappakonda but was later adopted by Srirangam Suryanarayana. ''Visalaandhra'' is an Indian Telugu-language daily newspaper established on 22 June 1952 in Vijayawada. The state Communist party of India decided to rename then daily Prajasakti to Visalaandhra (A combination of two words ''Visala'' meaning large or vast and ''Andhra'' meaning the region of Andhra Pradesh) with the slogan of having a single state for the Telugu speaking people. This newspaper was phenomenal in naming the newly formed state as Andhra Pradesh. It played a key role in opposing both the 1969 Separate Telangana movement and 1972 Jai Andhra movement. Pillavalu Gajapathy Krishnaveni (3 November 1935 – 16 August 2004), more famously known as Jikki, was an Indian playback singer from Andhra Pradesh. She sang around 10,000 songs in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, Sinhalese, and Hindi languages. Early life Jikki was born in Chennai on November 3rd, 1935. Her parents, Gajapathi Naidu and Rajakanthamma, a Telugu family, had moved from Chandragiri, near Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh to Chennai for their livelihood. Her uncle, Devaraju Naidu, worked as a music composer with the celebrated Kannada theatre legend and movie pioneer Gubbi Veeranna and this introduced the young Jikki to the music and film world.
