"Mandatory Brunch Meeting" is the seventeenth episode of the fourth season and 83rd episode overall from the Fox series '' Gotham''. The show itself is based on the characters created by DC Comics set in the Batman mythology. Written by co-executive producers Steven Lilien & Bryan Wynbrandt and directed by Maja Vrvilo, it was first broadcast on April 5, 2018. The episode is notable for introducing the character Jeremiah Valeska, who becomes a major antagonist in the series going forward. In the episode, Gordon and Bullock attempt to track down Jerome Valeska, who has assembled a legion of criminals to wreak havoc in Gotham and is looking for "Xander Wilde", an engineer with whom he shared a dark past with. Meanwhile, Lee faces Nygma off on a riddling contest in order to solve a conflict.
