''Mandakini (The Milky Way)'' ( si, මන්දාකිනි) is a 1999 Sri Lankan Sinhala drama film directed by H.D. Premaratne and executive production by Kithsiri Karunarathna. It stars Ravindra Randeniya and Sabeetha Perera in lead roles along with Asoka Peiris and W. Jayasiri. Music composed by Rohana Weerasinghe. It is the 925th Sri Lankan film in the Sinhala cinema. Production Film was co-produced by director himself with a group of young Sri Lankans in Australia including Kithsiri Karunarathna, Wimal Samarasingha, Ujith Hewabasithage, Athula Ginige, Kamal Bandara, S.J. Sarath Kumara, Srilal Jayaweera and Lakshman Gamage. The world premiere was held in Sydney under the patronage of Australians and aborigines at Greater Union Theatre in 7 March 1999. Ravindra Randeniya
Liyanage Boniface Walter Perera (born 5 June 1945), popularly known by his stage name Ravindra Randeniya, is a Sri Lankan actor and former politician. He rose to fame in Lester James Peries's film ''Desa Nisa'' in 1972, and was a popular actor during the 1970s and 1980s; He won the Sarasaviya Best Actor Award in 1984 (''Dadayama''), 1985 (''Maya''), 1989 (''Sandakada Pahana''), and 1990 (''Sri Medura''). Warnakulasuriya Uswaththa Liyanage Sabeetha Janaki Perera (born December 1, 1962) is an actress in Sri Lankan cinema and old Lollywood cinema of Pakistan. She is the most successful female superstar during the '80s and '90s in Sinhala cinema. Asoka Peiris (born 1942 – died 24 December 2007 as අශෝක පීරිස්) inhala, was a Sri Lankan actor in Sri Lankan cinema, stage drama and television. Highly versatile actor mainly appeared in dramatic roles, Peiris is best known for the roles in ''Amba Yahaluwo'' and ''Guru Gedara''. Personal life Ashoka Peiris was born in 1942 in Moratuwa, Colombo. His father died when he was about 16 years old. Rohana Weerasinghe
DR. Rohana Weerasinghe (born February 18, 1949), is a Sri Lankan musician, composer and singer. Early life Weerasinghe was born on 18 February 1949 in Algiriya, Matara in southern Sri Lanka. He was the youngest child to his parents Henry Weerasinghe and Sepalin Weerasinghe. In 1954, Weerasinghe started schooling from Good Shepard Family Convent in Nuwara Eliya, and later moved to Vidyachakra Buddhist School Ruwan Eliya, Welimada Maha Vidyalaya, Pannipitya Dharmapala Vidyalaya and Gamini Maha Vidyalaya Nuwara Eliya. Sri Lankan cinema encompasses the Sri Lankan film industry. It is a fledgling industry that has struggled to find a footing since its inauguration in 1947 with '' Kadawunu Poronduwa'' produced by S.
