Manchester Chorlton Street coach station or Manchester Central coach station is an InterCity bus and coach station in Manchester, England. The station is operated by National Express Coaches, who provide the majority of services. History The station was first opened in 1950 and consisted of three platform islands with long shelters. The station was re-designed in 1963 by Leach Rhodes Walker with the addition of a multi-storey car park and was reopened in 1967. Similar to the original station, it had three platform islands and had a semi-open concourse. The station had a reputation for being a miserable station, with the semi-open concourse making conditions feel cold and windy. The station underwent a major re-build and was reopened in 2002. Shudehill Interchange
Shudehill Interchange is a transport hub between Manchester Victoria station and the Northern Quarter in Manchester city centre, England, which comprises a Metrolink stop and a bus station. History The tracks through the site were opened in 1992; however, the tram stop did not open until 31 March 2003. The bus part of the interchange opened on 29 January 2006. Construction had initially started on the bus station in 1998 and it was planned to have been completed and fully operational by 2000, but several disputes over the ownership of the site along with two public inquiries over the course of five years resulted in the construction work on the station being halted until 2003. First Trenitalia West Coast Rail, trading name, trading as Avanti West Coast, is a British train operating company owned by FirstGroup (70%) and Trenitalia (30%) that operates the West Coast Partnership. Manchester Piccadilly Gardens bus station, often abbreviated to Piccadilly Gardens, is one of two main bus stations in Manchester city centre. Adjacent is a Manchester Metrolink station named Piccadilly Gardens. The majority of the stands are located between Piccadilly Gardens and the Piccadilly Plaza, where buses for south or west Manchester usually begin or end their route. Other stands, also serving Piccadilly Gardens, are located on Oldham Street, Piccadilly or Lever Street for services heading towards north or east of Manchester. The Red Express X41 is a bus service run by Blackburn Bus Company. It runs between Accrington and Manchester, serving the communities of Haslingden, Ramsbottom, Prestwich and Harpurhey, Collyhurst during peak times. The service travels the M60 and M66 motorways, connecting communities and schools such as The Hollins, Haslingden High School, and East Lancashire Railway in Ramsbottom. The Witch Way
The Witch Way is the branding for long-standing English bus route X43, which runs between Burnley and Manchester. The service is currently operated by Burnley Bus Company, The Burnley Bus Company. The route has operated continuously since 1948. It was previously operated by Ribble Motor Services, Stagecoach North West and Burnley Bus Company, Burnley & Pendle, while GM Buses briefly competed with Stagecoach on the route.
